I ended up purchasing this item to convert a 1970's era 8v71 detroit diesel in an old bus to electric shut-off instead of the original air solenoid/skinner valve setup. (I did not like the idea that you had to build air pressure on the bus before you could get the engine to shut off.) I had to fabricate a custom bracket for this solenoid to mount on the other side of the fuel shut-off lever as this solenoid retracts with power and extends when off. I also had to rig up a couple of relays to make the on/off switch inside the cab work the way I wanted it to. I believe this solenoid has about 1.5'' or so travel and right around 70lbs hold in force. Once I got it installed it has worked flawlessly for about 100 or so engine shut-off cycles so far. I don't believe this solenoid is rated for continuous use, as if left powered for more than a couple of minutes it will get pretty warm. Overall I am very happy with it and am glad I was able to make it work for my application.
