This is a great product and for the price, a steal. Unfortunately, this confirmed my fear that there is a problem with the light connections from my car, not on the trailer. Well, at least now I know. Great tool and easy to throw in the glove box.

This tester appears to work, but it would be nice to have some/better documentation as to what triggers the leds and what each means.. All I can conclude for my trailer harness is that the tester activates some of its leds for the turn signals/emergency flashers and brake lights.

VKVXCLON 4 Way Flat Trailer Circuit Tester 4 Pin Trailer Plug Tester 4 Pin Trailer Tester Connector Trailer Wiring Tester 4-Pin Straight Trailer Light Wire Circuit Tester Car Accessories. My trailer and connection to my pickup worked. I plugged my trailer into the 4 pin connector of my pickup truck. Both indicators worked, the running lights worked and the brake lights worked. When I tested the 4 pin connector with this device the red and green LEDs never lit up.When I used the left indicator the amber LED blinked but stayed off when I used my right indicator, which as stated above I know to work. When I used my brakes the Amber LED stayed lit.Obviously this is defective.Thank you for reading my review and looking at my photos of this product. I hope you found it helpful!REVIEW PHILOSOPHY: I only review a product if it is something I am capable of critically evaluating through comparison, testing and use. This means I have experience of using similar items; or that I have equipment or tools that I can test it with; or that I have an upcoming need so I can actually use. I am as selective about getting an item to review as I would be about purchasing that same item, so yes, I expect it to be a good product. My reviews are NOT based on packaging or if it was delivered timely.

This is a clever little tool. And in fact it seems durable enough to leave it plugged in while driving your truck when your trailer isn't hooked up. Or it's small enough to leave in the glove box without taking up any space. It's also super easy to use, simply plug in and check the lights. It fits any standard 4 pin trailer connector, which is the most common size for smaller trailers. It lights up if a connection is made. However, it really only has a singular function - to confirm the vehicle wiring. It does not check the trailer wiring, and it does not test the ground. In my experience, if there's a problem, it's usually one of those two things.I think it's a good value, and a valuable tool to have around, mostly for peace of mind. When experiencing an issue, you might as well rule out the most complex problems (vehicle wiring) before fiddling around with the trailer.

Got this to test my SUV’s trailer wiring with as I’ve had issues with it in the past. This tool made it super easy to connect, test, and go. The only issue I had is it was a little loose-fitting. I ended up bending the male connector pin outward so that it had a little more tension and that resolved it.The light readouts are a little confusing at first, but once you understand how the wiring works, it makes sense. This would be especially awesome if you need to check wiring regularly for work, and for the price it’s easy to throw on your keychain.

I have a small trailer with wiring that runs in channels, making it very hard to narrow down if the intermittent lighting issue I was having were coming from the wiring in the car, or in the trailer itself. This tool allowed me to have a quick way of checking for continuity at the plug, and I was able to determine that the issue was in the trailer. I pulled new wire in the broken circuit, and have since had no issues. An easy to use cheap tool like this can save a lot of effort and headache tracking down the issue through other means.

I have a few different trailers that I let people borrow. I plug in these testers to their vehicles before I let them attach to my trailers. That way I know their wiring is correct and isn't going to do any damage to my trailers. It saves a lot of trouble and time. I recommend getting the 7 pin round and the flat tester. I got them both and connected with a couple of carabiners.
