LOVE this tool! You need a good hammer drill to go along with it, but this tool and a good SDS makes installing 8 foot ground rods into childs play. Most dont know how to install 8' ground rods and wish they were dead after 5 minutes of pounding in rods with a sledge hammer. I installed 5x 8' ground rods with an SDS hammer drill a ladder and the garden hose takes about 5 minutes per ground rod. Get up on your ladder with SDS in hammer mode with this bit installed. start your rod in a couple inches. climb off the ladder and open your garden hose to low to medium flow and place the nozzle where the rod penetrates the earth. Climb back on your ladder and let it rip with the SDS until you no longer need the ladder. get off the ladder and set aside keep the SDS going until your rod is in to the required depth, turn off your water. guaranteed EASIEST ground rod install you will ever take on. installed 8 rods around base of 70 foot radio tower in less than a half hour with no sledge hammer in sight!

This item worked very well. Drove in two 7 foot copper grounding rods without any problems. SDS fit my hammer drill as it should. Good product.

I bought this to use with my hammer drill to drive in a three foot ground rod for an electric fence. It took all of 20 seconds (and that in rocky New England soil) and I was left saying "that's IT?". Definitely worth the expense.

Literal life saver. I have horrible soil. Clay with big rocks. The thought of hammering two 5/8" pieces of copper 8ft long into the ground was not something I was looking forward to. Was going to try a hammer and a T-post hammering device. Found this little beauty. We had a couple days of rain and lower temperatures, got the hammer drill, zoom - gone. I was shocked how easy it did it. Both done in about 40 minutes. Astounding.

It worked well for 1/2in rebar even if it was a bit too big.I drove 21 rebars 2ft into the ground and it did not break. It was a good fit for the SDS I have.Made driving rebar into the ground easy and precise.

This works great at driving the rod and is constructed well, likely to last a long time, however:If you are driving a 5/8 rod, do NOT get the 5/8 driver - get the 3/4. My 5/8 fit way too snugly around my 5/8 ground rod— so much so I foresaw the issue, so I even tried to smooth some of the galvanization build up to let it slip on more freely. But I didn’t solve the problem, so sure enough, it completely froze on the rod after effectively driving it down.I had to cut he top 5” off the rod to get the rod/tool fused section up. After an hour wrestling in the workshop with bench vises, acetylene torches, etc, I still couldn’t get the rod out...boy was it in there! So save yourself the pain and get the next size up. The extra slop won’t hurt anything except maybe allow a bit of mushrooming, which isn’t hard to trim down if needed to slip on your wire clamp.Again, seems like a solid tool, but you need to plan for the above.
