The EMSTAR “6PCS Spade Drill Bit Set Paddle Flat Bits, 3/8"-1", Hex Shank Quick Change Wood Drill Bit Set, Flat Wood Hole Cutter” are roughly made. The quality is poor. They are wood bits, and I can sharpen them, but I didn’t expect to have to do so right out of the box. They are affordable enough to keep, but I wouldn't recommend them.

The worst product I have ever reviewed. The bits are stamped with fractional inch sizes. But when the bit is placed into a standard drill bit gauge they don't match. The plastic package on the outside gives a whole number in millimeter dimension for each one of the bits, they can't be both. I believe they are actually millimeter bits even though they are stamped with fractional inches. But that's only the start. Every spade bit I've ever seen in my life has two outside points at the far outside edges of the bit which cut and define the OD of the hole being drilled. The three-quarter inch bit has those two outside spurs none of the other bits do. The steeply sloped surface of the center pilot bit cutting edge is irregular from tip to base. The tip of the 7/8 inch pilot point is duller than a rounded lead pencil. 1/2" bit is just as bad. Note these only will fit in a standard drill - not a driver. Total junk I have seen better at the dollar store. They are betting you won't be bothered to return them - I say don't go there

Understand this product for what it is. Spade bits are not "heirloom quality" tools; they are more or less disposable. They're typically used for rough-ish work, like drilling holes in drywall, plywood, 2x4s, etc. For that kind of use, this is an economically-priced set that I'm glad to have. Some of them will wear out, and I can either grind new edges on them or get new ones. This represents a good value.

Nice set of spade bits with the hex end shaft. These will fit my drill or my hammer drill, which is a nice option. The plastic container they come is will easily hang from my peg board tool organizer.A reasonable price for this six piece set.

This set is cheap and easy. It functions as intended/expected, and for less than 10 dollars at the time of reviewing it is a great value. The six sizes cover a wide range for general house use, they are sharp and work quickly, and also include a storage pouch that is capable of holding all of them that is not pictured in the listing.

There are six sizes of spade bits in this package ranging from 3/8" up to 1" all packaged in a plastic sleeve (the plastic sleeve is marked with metric sizes, but these do measure close to the marked fractional sizes). Overall, the quality is very cheap, but at just over $1 per bit, I really did not expect much. The most disappointing thing is that all but the 3/4" bit are not shaped correctly with outer points to slice the wood fibers. Those outer points help to make a smooth cut. The resulting holes from these bits show a bit of roughness due to the lacking quality control in the sharpening process. Surprisingly, they do work, although the holes show feathering and blowout on the back. For someone looking for an inexpensive set of wood spade bits for a weekend project that needs a few holes drilled in soft wood, these will work. However, these are not of any quality that will last and would not work in hardwood.

Ordered to replace my older, more worn out paddle bit set. They arrived promptly, packaged securely and as described in the listing. Kept my expectations on the low side as I normally do for non-name brand tools, but was pleasantly surprised. The bits are solidly constructed with an even finish. The cutting edge is sharp and even across the top and pilot point. For tools like this, where the difference between high-end name brand and other suppliers is basically only in the name, this is a comparable, cost efficient option.

So far they seem to work just like I'd expect then too. Fit my drill and no real issues. Some tools that will do the job. I can't speak to quality or longevity as I've only used them on a single project but they feel well made for the price.
