This thumb grip is a solid little upgrade for my Sony A7C2. It gives the camera a better ergonomic feel, especially if you have larger hands. The build quality feels great - all-metal construction and a clean, silvery finish that complements the camera nicely. The added shutter button accessory looks great, especially with that striking red accent. Unfortunately, the red shutter button doesn't stick properly to the actual camera shutter button - it kind of just sits on top loosely.

Photos show my grip without the thumb and then with. The best part about this piece is that it's machined very well and it's a tight fit in the hot shoe. I have pretty small hands so I was skeptical this would help me, but it feels great. I'd recommend it to anyone with a smaller Sony body.I was not a fan of the red button, though. It uses a tiny sticky pad and sits up above the button. It looks like a red clown nose. I ended up not using it, as it's absolutely going to fall off anyway and I'd rather not litter somewhere. It may not be the fault of the product, rather that the Sony A7Cii has a rounded record button--it just doesn't take to having something flat stuck on it.

Britubol's thumb rest/grip for the Sonly A7Cii camera didn't make much of a first impression. Seemingly too lightweight, my first thought was that it would snap easily under any pressure, a temptation I managed to resist.Fitting onto the camera, the grip replaces the flash plate, with the thumb rest actually being next to the dials on the back and top of the camera. It provides a rest for your thumb off of these controls and provided for a more stable grip. But this comes with a cost. First, it prevents you from utilizing a flash covering the mount. Suprisingly not as big an issue as might be expected as the Sony A7Cii works just fine without one. But it still means you must remove it if you want to mount a flash. Because of its position, it also limits usage of the top dial, making it more difficult to access, especially if your are attempting to use your thumb to go clockwise. The red button cover for your trigger is disappointing. It is just a cap that is pressed on and held in place via a small adhesive glue spot/button? that you would attach to the underside before sticking onto your shutter trigger. Just playing with the cap (no glue) it small raised button (top?) and concave bottom. Neither felt very ergonomic with the camea. Size seemed large enough to cause potential issues in depressing the actual trigger. With no instructions of mounting, and not wanting to play with the likely small film on the glue button, I gave it a pass.Overall, if you don't mind trading the original flash cover for the thumb rest, this is a nice gadget. But throw out the "cover" as while it may seem nice in the promotional pictures, the reality of installation and difficulty in later removing it should you tire of it.

Hello, Americans. I'm NOT Paul Harvey. You’ve bought yourself one of those fancy Sony A7C II or A7C R cameras. Mirrorless. Sleek. More computing power than NASA had in ’69. You’re out there capturing the world—one shutter click at a time. But there’s just one problem…No grip.Your poor thumb, sliding around like a politician in a fact-check. The camera? Well, it’s just not holding up its end of the bargain. Until now.Enter the A7CII / A7CR Metal Thumb Up Grip. Black as a moonless Midwest sky, and just as mysterious. It slides into the hot shoe with the confidence of a man who irons his jeans. And once it’s on? Oh, mercy. That camera feels like it was built for you.Solid metal. Ergonomic curve. No tools, no fuss—just that sweet, sweet leverage. And as a little cherry on top, they toss in a shutter button accessory smoother than a country preacher on Easter Sunday. Now you’ve got comfort. Control. And dignity.Good day.

Like I said, this perfectly fits the hot shoe and is even engineered so that you still have enough access to the thumb dial and exposure comp, but I find that when I hold the camera comfortably my thumb actually doesn't touch this grip.On a camera like the Ricoh GR or Fuji X100 series, these thumb grips absolutely give you better purchase on the camera but I do not see a use case for this one. Also the silver does not match the top plate of the silver A7CR, it's a noticeably cooler shade,

This thumb grip is very useful and gives me a little more security while holding my camera. I can use the added security as I am getting old and arthritic… starting to lose my grip.. Anyway, it’s simply comforting to hold the camera with my right hand as it’s now considerably more secure. On this aspect, I give it five stars! The package also comes with a rubbery red sticky dot that is to be placed over the shutter button… it is primarily aesthetic in nature and of no use to me. I guess if people want a jazz up there camera a bit, this might help. Personally, I want my camera to be the least noticeable as possible so jazzing it up it would be the last thing I’d want to do.I have two minor issues, one is function related and the other is an aesthetic issue. Last issue has to do with the silver paint tone of the component as it’s a mismatch with my cameras, silver color. You should be able to make out the difference in the image I’ve attached. Perhaps more significant for some photographers is that this component blocks some access to the top far right custom mode dial. This isn’t much a problem for me as I don’t really use that dial very often and I can still access it with my forefinger from the side. Still, this may be an issue for some users. All in all, I’m very pleased with this. Please note that I received this item as part of the Amazon Vine program. I do not believe that it has influenced me in my review. Nonetheless it did make me happy to avoid having to pay for it so who knows?
