You can find a number of similar dipstick replacements for this type of generator on here, which is probably a testament to how lacking the cheap plastic dipstick that comes with the OEM generator is. This one has a very weak but functional magnet in the tip, and does a better job than the plastic at keeping oil from leaking out of the fill hole if you tip the generator that direction. It (and seemingly all the other similar replacements on Amazon) does completely lack an indicator of your oil level range on the dipstick, but it's a pretty primitive engine - get it at least 3/4 of the way up towards the rubber o-ring and you're about right. Not much more to say about it than that; it seems competently machined for a simple part like this and less likely to break than the plastic original. Worthwhile to swap it out just to be rid of the OEM.

Recently purchased a Predator 3500 generator and figured I’d pick up one of these for a few bucks to take care of any loose metal produced during break in. Checked after 8 hours of run time and sure enough, there was a metallic powder around the magnetic tip. It’s doing its job

I've always used magnetic oil caps when breaking in new engines, but now I've started running them permanently. With the spread of cheap engines it's important to collect and remove the filings as effectively as possible. Well this isn't a replacement for an oil change, it definitely helps to remove one of the Most common reasons for premature engine wear in new small engines.The reason I say I'm going to start using these in my engines all the time is I tested it in a mature well broken in Westinghouse generator with fairly new oil. It was able to collect quite a bit of small metal fragments while the generator is running for a few hours. I'm delighted to get these little fragments out as they will prematurely wear the cylinder.This oil cap is very strong and capable of removing small metal particles from your oil with ease. Highly recommend.
