These are good latches for holding down a hatch, they have some weight to them and worked great for what I needed them for would definitely recommend

I've used these in a few areas on my sailboat. They are nicely polished and very heavy duty - The latches close well and I like that they can be locked.I question what kind of stainless steel these are, as they are completely magnetic. The high level of polish will prevent most marine corrosion, so I'm not too concerned about it.The reviewers complaining about defective or difficult to close latches aren't mistaken. Of the sets I've ordered, two latches could barely be opened and closed due to too much material remaining on the hook portion. Some careful filing quickly made the fit right, but that's work you don't expect to do when buying a finished product.For the price, I don't mind having to adjust it myself, and won't hesitate to buy more of these when needed.

I have used Amarine hardware for a number of years. The company seems to hit the sweet spot for utility, durability, and value. Fitting the clamp takes a bit of finesse, but it's still a fairly simple process. The clamping force is impressive and the design allows for a bit of surface irregularity. After three years on a sailboat on coastal waters the polish remains like new.

One worked and is nice. The other is useless. Amazon sent a replacement with zero hassle. Of the two replacements, one was so stiff it barely opened, though it did sort of function as opposed to the one that wouldn’t open at all. The takeaway is that there are quality control issues with this product, though the polish is well done so they look pretty even if you can’t count on them to work. In the end I did get two latches that worked, but even with Amazon’s spiffy return procedure it was still a lot of wasted time.

I'm restoring an older Sea Ray and haven't had time to install them yet but if they're as strong as they are nice looking, I'm sure they'll be fine.

I used this product to hold my boat seats in a locked position. The installation was simple. The clamps worked as advertised.
