  • Introducing the ARO Orbit PRO, the ultimate spirographic espresso distribution tool. With a housing crafted from durable aluminum and precision ball bearings embedded within the plastic gears, the ARO Orbit PRO is engineered for both dedicated home baristas and professional cafés alike. We've optimized every aspect of this tool – from meticulously engineered gear ratios and pin placements to an ultra-smooth mechanism that spins with the touch of a finger. Perfectly fluffed and distributed baskets of espresso are just a few spins away.
  • Durable Aluminum Construction: Built to endure the most demanding environments, the aluminum housing is provides a sleek, professional appearance while ensuring superior strength and longevity. Finished with a premium, scratch-resistant matte black anodize, it resists wear and corrosion, maintaining its pristine look over time.
  • Precision Ball Bearings: Equipped with maintenance-free, sealed ball bearings for an ultra-smooth mechanism that effortlessly rotates with the touch of a finger.
  • Novel and Innovative Gear Design: Features three separate gears working in harmony for optimal mixing, distribution, and fluffing in as little as four spins. The extended-armed gear whips the pins at high velocities slicing through any clumps in its path. The short-armed gear bounces the pins back and forth across the basket to scramble and mix the grounds, ensuring even distribution and a level bed. The small gear pushes and pulls grounds near the edge for complete basket coverage. Note: The gears are made from additively manufactured plastic.
  • Precision Pins with Plenty of Spares: Utilizes 10x, 0.25mm diameter pins to trace dozens of hypotrochoids and epitrochoids, distributing and fluffing espresso grounds in your portafilter basket. 20x pins are included in every order.
  • Adjustable Needle Length: Features the ability to adjust the needle length for a custom fit with virtually any portafilter basket depth.
  • Magnetic Portafilter Attachment: Equipped with 9 powerful neodymium magnets to enable one-hand operation on most portafilter baskets. It auto-aligns for a secure grip, ensuring consistent and efficient distribution every time. Note: The magnetic portafilter attachment works best on baskets that attract magnets. For non-magnetic baskets, two-handed operation may be necessary.
  • Efficient Distribution: Spirographic mechanical motion ensures consistency and fluffs grounds in seconds, providing a uniform and level espresso bed. Ideal for commercial cafés where every second counts!

Set-up and Usage Instructions:
1. Install 10 pins by inserting them into the holes in the gears. If a pin hole is hard to reach, try rotating the tool a bit so that the gears move into a new position. You can also remove the adjustment sleeve to get better access to the pin holes. Be careful here and take your time. Our pins come with a flat-tip, but they are still pokey!
2. With your portafilter basket empty, place the tool inside of the basket to determine if you need to adjust the pin height on the tool. Holding the tool under a bright light will help significantly. If an adjustment is needed, hold the jam nut and rotate the adjustment sleeve until you reach your desired height. Then tighten the jam nut against the adjustment sleeve to lock its position.
3. Fill your portafilter with espresso grounds and place the tool on top. You will notice a white circle around one of the pin holes. The tool can be rotated until the white circle is closest to the edge of the tool. In this configuration, the pins are furthest away from the edges and the tool is easier to place on your portafilter without a pin getting caught outside the basket.
4. Spin the tool 4-8 times. After the final spin, hold the tool on top of the portafilter and give the portafilter a few light taps on the counter to settle the grounds. Give the tool one more final slow spin and gently remove it from the portafilter basket 4. Place the tool in its stand, tamp your grounds, and go brew some espresso.
For daily maintenance, simply brush off any loose grounds and/or wipe clean with a cloth. When it's time for a more thorough cleaning, remove the pins, sleeve, and lock nut from the gear mechanism. Wipe down the gear mechanism with a damp cloth while avoiding getting water inside the rotating parts. The pins, sleeve, lock nut, and stand may be hand washed with lukewarm water and soap. Be sure to rinse well, and dry immediately. The ARO Orbit PRO is not dishwasher safe.
The three small gears are additively manufactured – keep away from extreme heat. Do not store on top of your espresso machine.
Total height of the tool when placed in its stand is 71mm.
The outside diameter of the stand for the 58mm version is 76mm. For the 54mm version it is 70mm.
The pins are 55mm long and have a diameter of 0.25mm.
The gears can be removed using a 1.5mm allen key inserted through the center holes. Proceed with caution as reassembling requires the gears to be attached with a specific orientation. Please contact us for further details!

Edit: I contacted the company, they apologized, offered a discount and acknowledged there was a mixup & they were replacing the inventory at Amazon. They offered me a discount on a replacement and offered to send the gear set as well. All in all, customer service was good, so I am updating this to 4/5 stars. The product itself looks and works great.Original post:Ordered 1, didnt have the internal gears. Replaced it, that one also didnt have internal gears. They were both sealed with the ARO sticker. Clearly a QA issue over there.

Incredibly satisfying to use, evens out the puck so no levelling needed. Loses a star for the cheap looking inner parts and the high price. But I don't regret the purchase.

The only thing metal about this is its body. All the important geary bits are 3d printed plastic, which will undoubtedly wear down over time. I don't see how the price can be justified given this fact.

I love this thing. I’ve been using it for a few months now and the build quality is unmatched. I’ve used plenty of wdt spiral tools and all of them are mostly 3D printed. Not a problem to me, but it is nice to have the weight and feel of the aluminum used in this product. The aluminum resting dock is a nice touch as well. It works very well and the smoothness and speed at which you can spin the tool is great. The needles are easily removable for cleaning/replacement (it’s just a friction fit). Overall a great product. I’d say “I will buy again” but I have a feeling this one will last me.

If you know about WDT, then you are likely an espresso obsessive. After bean, grinder quality, and dose / grind balance, distribution has to be right up there as a major contributor to a sweet well balanced shot. This tool stirrs your grinds, breaks up any clumps, and evens out the density of your puck as well as it is possible to do.The mechanism is smooth. You can adjust needle depth easily over a big range. Despite what one reviewer says, there is definitely sufficient adjustment to span single to triple dose basket depths. You just need to unscrew the locking collar, set your depth and re-lock.Another review seemed to suggest the product arrived chipped or scratched. When I opened my box, I saw similar markings. However, on closer inspection I saw that it was just some debris stuck to the lip. It wiped off very easily. The finish is good. The tool is easy to use, though it will take a moment to get used to its size.In your hand it feels like a really well made prototype, rather than a Swiss engineered tool, if that makes sense. It’s quite light, and the thread detente between the parts is quite loose until you tighten the locking ring. I’m betting version 2.0 will feel precision made like a Rolex bezel. At $88 I think it’s still good value. There’s a lot of engineering here. It’s a low volume product given how few espresso heads there are in the world, and frankly I have spent massively more on tampers and scales that likely do far less to improve your shot. This is a good new toy. Let’s hope it actually does improve my shots, in which case it’s blinding value.UPDATE: I have been using this everyday for a fortnight. My shots extract notably more consistently. Beads of espresso appear simultaneously in every hole in the portafilter-basket after pre-infusion every single shot. This tool simply rules out puck-density as a variable. It is a definitive upgrade on last-gen wdt tools.

After purchasing another brand of this spirographic type of WDT - all plastic, it produced very good but not perfect results - I hesitated over ordering this one. What attracted me was the aluminum body and different approach and, after reading reviews on another site, decided to try it.Wow. It’s great, producing a perfect bed of coffee every time. As expected, the difference is subtle, but IMO worth it in a detectably better pour and at times more balanced flavor profile. It needs careful initial set-up for your basket depth, and to this end look up the longer video the seller includes with the non-pro (all plastic) version of this product. Running at close to two minutes, it clarified that I’d initially done my set-up wrong, resulting in a slightly stiff action. Properly set up, it truly has a smooth, easy action.Bonus points? My baskets have low iron content; I was surprised and pleased to find the extra magnets on this tool grip mine very well.Improvements? Although this tool has a welcome knurled design for grip, it isn’t quite possible to turn it with a finger tip - despite its smooth action - as the relatively slim (aluminum remember!) wall is too thin. Addition of a ring or spur would help a lot. I plan to add one of my own.And if you’re pedantic, a dot would help so you can easily count how many turns you’ve done. I added a small dot of white ‘twink’ to mine.Other than these minor blemishes, which may or may not matter to different users, this is one of the best 2 or 3 espresso tools of the 20 or so I’ve bought in the last few years.Highly recommended.

I was skeptical that this would be an improvement over a manual WDT tool. Wow! Easy and consistent. Could not be more happy.
