When I tried to charge one of my batteries that I didn't know that it had gone bad, the chip started to heat up and smoke, nearly caught on fire. When I popped the bottom off it turned out thar the chip was very small about the size and shape of a pinky finger, the middle of it what I presume was the distributor has turned to charcoal.

I purchased this as a direct replacement for my radio but it has to sit absolutely perfect to charge. If the radio even slightly moves while in the base it will stop charging.

I have had my radio for nearly 8 years and I use it constantly. I must admit that I never used the charger properly. I would leave the radio on & on the charger. I believe this new battery and charger will serve me just as well.

I had ordered acharger previously and that one took 12 hours to charge the radio battery. Then after using it once, that charger failed! However, THIS charger does not take 12 hours to charge the battery and it is still working very well.

Perfect replacement for my original charging base station. Original broke internally when plugging in (the circuit board connector to the power port) and wouldn’t charge. This is a perfect replacement, functions as the original right down to the blinking charge indicator.
