When used correctly, a good steel rule is a surprisingly accurate measuring device. These rules are made from Japanese rust-resistant stainless steel that has been tempered creating a measuring tool that can flex if needed but will snap back straight. The edges and ends have been ground parallel, straight, smooth and square. Graduations are produced via a photoengraving process creating very consistent and accurate markings with uniform line widths. Once etched, graduations are white filled for maximal readability. Graduation are etched and not printed so will not wear off with prolonged use. Graduations conform to strict international EEC 1 Accuracy Standards, i.e. +/- 0.2 mm at 20 Degrees C for 1000 mm Rule 5R graduation marks feature quick-reading 32nds and 64ths on one side and 10ths and 100ths on the reverse side.. Finish is black chrome. Black chrome finish provides scratch and corrosion resistance and maximizes readability by achieving a zero-glare, high-contrast, EZ read finish that enhances readability in both low and bright light conditions. Each rule comes in vinyl storage pouch. These are well made rules and will provide years of reliable service in any shop, studio, clinic, lab, classroom or home environment.

I really am happy with this purchase. Very easy to read, in the shop. Huge help to me. My manager really likes how much easier it is to read, may be getting more for the shop.

Nice little ruler. Bought it to use when doing a guitar set up. My only complaint is that the hash marks are too thick. They almost run together. When making small precise measurements you want thin sharp markings on your ruler so that you not only get the most accurate measurement possible, but so you can also actually see the distinction between lines. When the lines are thick and come so close to one another your eyes keep jumping from one to the other and it's more difficult to get your reading.

Material seems to be good quality but item is much narrower than expected. The lines are not sharp enough to be readable especially on the 1/100ths edge.

Upon initial inspection, it looked like the hundredth markings were one solid white line. This is why I put only 4 stars for "easy to read" However, I was using it as a scale for a surveying level. Those same lines were very easy to read through the level(scope). I may replace all my scales with them.

My silver scales are hard to read with any backlight. The measurements on these white on black scales make it very clear! I ordered extras to give to my coworkers as gifts. They are no more expensive, and in most cases more affordable than local dealers. It was worth the two day wait and I will order these again!
