I had never used one of these on my cartridge style filters for our Toyota vehicles. WOW, definitely impressed. I spilled less than a tablespoon of oil doing a whole oil change on my Tundra with 5.7L. I also own a Fumoto oil drain valve and it makes the whole experience so smooth and clean.

This is very easy to use and makes oil filter changes quick and clean.

Why would they design it to be screwed in? It takes like 10 seconds to drain a filter. Could just be pressed in, sealed, and drain cleanly. Instead, it just pours out oil as it’s being screwed in. I don’t know how other people are having success with this thing. I’ve spilled anywhere from 50-100% of the oil in the filter just while trying to screw it in. I’ve used 4 of them so far. Useless tool, in my experience.

I have two Toyotas that both use the same style of cartridge filter, and they're also the first (and second) vehicles I've owned that didn't use the metal-can type of filters. Learning to do oil changes without getting covered in oil has been a challenge. This little device is simple but does its job really, really well. Of course, you still have to drain the oil pan as usual, but when it comes to draining the last bit of oil in the filter, the little snap-in spouts that come with the filter just never quite do the trick. This device screws into the filter housing after you remove the cap. Behind the cap is a spring-loaded release valve that allows the oil in the housing to be released, typically by snapping in the plastic spout. Instead, once this device is screwed in, you righty-tighty screw in the secondary part that's connected to the tube. This forces a vented plunger up into the spring-loaded valve, allowing the oil to exit through the vents and out the tube. For my needs, the tube is a bit long, at least on the 4Runner. For the Tundra, I might need a little more, but still less length than what's provided. I'll probably end up cutting off 8-12" of the tube.Sure, there are still a few drips you have to contend with, but this completely eliminates one of the "oil running down your wrist" scenarios of Toyota oil changes. Definitely something I'm keeping on hand for every future change.

The quality of this is excellent. I would recommend to anyone.

Works as expected. I would like to see this with a valve on the drain end so any residual oil will be contained during storage between oil changes, but the product certainly works as designed.
