These seem to be OK quality, but they are packaged bizarrely and in a way that seems unprofessional.

For those times when you don't have the right tap on hand, a little threading bar can save the day. These are surprisingly inexpensive for a solid carbide tool. My boring bar came in a plastic case like you'd normally see an end mill packaged with. It does a good job of protecting the tool but there's no labeling anywhere to identify what's inside. The boring bar itself is labeled. I ordered the 5mm diameter x 22mm length variety. There is no information on the product page indicating what size of threads this bar will cut, which I find odd. I'll attach a photo of a 16 TPI cresting insert next to this bar, and you can see that it should be able to cut at least 16 TPI or maybe a bit larger. That equals roughly a 1.50mm pitch. Because this is a smaller tool I don't think I would try cutting anything more coarse than 16 TPI anyway. I've used this type of bar many times in the past and they are very prone to chipping if you're not careful. Fortunately these are cheap enough you can buy a handful of them to keep on hand, and not stress too much when you damage one. I did a test thread in some 6061 aluminum with good results. I noticed a small amount of buildup on the tool, which is typical when cutting the softer grades of aluminum. Overall I'm quite happy with this little bar and I plan on ordering a few extras in various sizes to keep on hand.
