Our current carbon monoxide detector is powered by 10 year "super capacitor" that can't be replaced. According to that product's information it's super capacitor should be out of charge sometime within the next couple of months. I decided to order these carbon monoxide detectors to have on hand once our old CO detector is dead. These detectors require 2 AA batteries each. I was not able to find any information concerning how long this CO detector will function on 3 fresh AA batteries. I will have to keep my eye on the flashing green light in order to know when the AA batteries need to be replaced.I dislike that the PPM display only shows the CO readings when an alarm is present.I deducted 1 Star from my review rating for this reason.I performed a quick function test on one of the Co detectors using my automobile's exhaust. The alarm is loud enough to be heard and definitely gets our dogs immediate attention. All of the dogs bark when the alarm on this carbon monoxide detector is activated. It would also be good information to know what standard/testing these CO detectors passed in order to deterim the quality and life expectancy of the "chemical sensor".I deducted 1 Star from my review rating for this reason.Overall this 3-pack of Awatin battery powered carbon monoxide detectors is a good value for the price point.

We bought these as a safety precaution shortly before an ice storm hit a few weeks ago, knowing that we were most likely going to lose power and would have to use a propane heater. Two AA batteries later, one of the three was instantly up and running (we’ll use the other two later when we have our house addition complete).Fortunately, we had nothing to worry about during the ice storm, because it never actually went off. I hope it never does!A few things I noticed:It seems that the PPM readout is only visible when the alarm is going off. Even when I click the prominent self-test button on the front, the display reads 880ppm - at those levels I shouldn't be around to type this review! I presume it’s just showing how it works. Still, if the alarm is going off, sticking around to leisurely look at the PPM is going to be the last thing I want to do, which means that the display is nearly entirely useless. It’s extremely loud, so no complaints there. The light space above ‘power’ flickers green every minute or so to indicate that it’s still up and running. Just something to keep in mind if you don’t want a small light flashing every so often in your room. The alarm comes in two main pieces: a back plate and the front disk, the former of which is of course the main part of the alarm. The back plate is screwed to the wall, and the front disk uses a small twist mechanism to keep it secured to the back plate. There are lines on the front disk and the back plate indicating where the front disk should be placed according to the back plate. This twisting mechanism means that you do not have to unscrew the alarm from the wall to change the batteries, which is a plus. However, for some odd design reason, the screw holes on the back plate are somewhat crooked. If you attach the back plate to the wall with the screw holes perfectly level, the front disk will be ever-so-slightly crooked, with the display, the lights, and everything else pointing at a 1 o’clock angle. It’s straight when you put it in, yes, but once you twist it clockwise to secure it into place, it’s no longer perfectly vertical. No big deal, but it is slightly annoying if you’re somewhat of a perfectionist. In short, if you want this alarm to be straight, you’ll have to pay attention when attaching the back plate to the wall, fixing it at about an 11 o’clock angle so that the front disk rests at 12 o’clock.A lengthy review, but hopefully it will be helpful to somebody considering these alarms!

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Awatin 3-Pack Carbon Monoxide Detectors, and I'm genuinely impressed, especially considering the price point. Full disclosure: I received these detectors for free, but that doesn't color my honest assessment.First off, the fact that you get three units in a pack is fantastic. It allows for comprehensive coverage of your home, placing them strategically in bedrooms, hallways, and near potential sources of CO like furnaces or water heaters. Installation was incredibly simple; pop in the batteries two double A and you are set to go.The digital display is a standout feature. Unlike some basic alarms that just beep, the Awatin detectors provide a clear, numerical readout of the CO levels. This is invaluable for understanding the severity of the situation and acting accordingly. The alarm itself is loud and piercing, exactly what you want in an emergency.Being battery-powered offers significant flexibility. No need to worry about finding outlets or dealing with complicated wiring. This makes them ideal for older homes, rentals, or even RVs where electrical access might be limited. The unit is light and compact, and the design is clean and unobtrusive. For the price, the Awatin detectors offer excellent value. While I haven't had the unfortunate need to test them in a real CO emergency, the consistent self-testing and the clear display give me confidence in their reliability. If you're looking for an affordable way to safeguard your home and loved ones from the silent threat of carbon monoxide, the Awatin 3-Pack is a solid choice. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a basic, but effective CO detection system.
