Part is junk if you don't have the old timing base ring. The making of the ring and the actual base leave vertical plastic groves in the moving parts so when they try to slide across each other they catch like gears stupid I know but parts are being made cheaper and cheaper. The fix take the plastic ring off the old one in my case a 1989 timer and replace the brand new ring now it's smooth as butter. Annoyed I had to take everything apart twice for poor craftsmanship by CDI. It shouldn't be this way but it is what it is. How long will this last not as long as the old one that's for sure. Old one was metal with only a little plastic this is 100% plastic and it's not even smooth. Buyer beware save the old one!
