I got this set a while ago but being an absolute beginner, after looking at the instructions, I put this away and started with easier project to learn the basics. This set comes complete with everything you need to crochet the tulips and pot, so it is nice to not have to think and go buy the items individually. The design is very cute. But as others have indicated, this is a little bit harder if you are a beginner like I am. The instructions were pretty easy to follow for the most part and the QR code that links to the videos were helpful, but it is not a easy project to start with.

My wife is an intermediate to advanced-level crocheter. She liked the idea of this kit since it's a bit different from the kawaii critter kits that are pretty common. She said it wasn't for true beginners. It's not necessarily advanced, but if this is your first crochet experience, it's going to be pretty rough.It includes everything you need except scissors and a hot glue gun. She said the packaging was nice enough that it could double as a project bag. The pattern book and "How to Crochet" books were well done. The crochet hooks are nicer than those found in other similar kits.The only thing in the kit that caused an issue was the darning needle. My wife said it was too small and ended up being too frustrating, so she did use her own needle for that specifically.Overall, this is a solid kit as long as you know what you're getting into. It's likely fine for an intermediate crocheter that is a beginner at amigurumi (but not a general crochet beginner).

I wouldn’t say that I am a beginner when it comes to crochet, but I am relatively new to making amigurami. I love getting these kits because it’s a nice intro to the techniques.Pros: the kit comes with printed instructions to make the flower pot and everything, They are pretty easy to follow for the most part. It also has a separate guide for learning the basics and understanding patterns in general.Cons: this project involves crocheting around very thin wire for the leaves and it is not very clear in the instructions when it comes to that. There is a QR code in the pattern that links to a series of videos that break down the whole project. If you are not used to working with the wire USE THE VIDEOS!! I had to use them and I would have never figured out how they want the wire worked in without that.EDIT: the instructions for the strawberry stem WERE NOT in the booklet that came in my kit. I had to use the QR code for the videos to make those parts. If any of the instructions are missing or unclear, USE THE VIDEOS!Neither pro or con: the listing has that the kit comes with two types of hooks, but I only got one in mine. I’m happy with the one that I did get, so not having the two-sided hook does not impact my opinion of the kit overallI am really enjoying the kits that this brand makes, and I’ve gotten others to do after I finish this one!

This set comes with everything you need to make your project. It also has two manuals. One teaches you all the crochet techniques you need in order to complete the project. This manual also has 2 QR codes on the front. One sends you to a YouTube page that teaches you basic crochet methods and the other brings you to extra crochet tutorial videos. The second manual has the directions for how to make your crochet potted plant along with the abbreviations so you can understand the directions.I personally am a total beginner. I’ve never crocheted in my life so I am taking time to learn all the techniques before starting my project. I bought another ball of yarn just for practicing so that I don’t waste any of the yarn from my project. I suggest you do the same if you don’t catch on right away(like me). I also think the directions for the Tulip potted plants are easy to understand with the help of the abbreviations and the QR code. I think that the videos teaching the crochet techniques were done well enough for a total beginner as well. I will update with an image when I’m finished. :)

I have been meaning to get into crocheting for awhile, and when I found this kit I was excited to try it! However, I found the instructions and the strawberry design to be way too advanced for a beginner. I couldn't get past the first couple lines of instruction without having to look up a Youtube tutorial first. Also, the yarn they provide comes apart very easily after being used once or twice. As a beginner, you start over many times before getting it right, making the yarn difficult to work with.

This kit is truly great. I've begun teaching a little girl to crochet, and I have to say that one cannot simply hand this project to a child and expect perseverance or completion: In that case, you'd create, by negligence, only frustration, and that would be a real shame.To start, it's best to demonstrate (and practice TOGETHER) casting-on and loose, even chaining. Then watch some videos before proceeding to making single, double, or triple stitches.Be patient with the youngster and, again, be ready to help -- really HELP -- with explanations and corrections/do-overs. It's not a good idea simply to get a first-time crochet-er started and then go off and do something that doesn't allow close assistance. If the newbie has never read a pattern, then you'll need to do some explaining on that, to be sure.Don't worry, this is easily and rapidly mastered!Again, it's a really great kit!

I was so glad to find another Cedarol Crochet Kit for Beginners. They make such great kits and supply truly helpful directions that help a lot for someone just getting started with crochet or a seasoned yarn person. This kit of an adorable strawberry pot comes with all the amendments -yarn needles, hook, wires, etc and two booklets of info. The reclosable bag ensures nothing gets lost. The darling strawberry pot is an inspiration for beginners who might think crochet projects are always flat. NOT!
