I used two to shade 1/3 of our deck. Plus it protects the grill and smoker from the sun.

This is fantastic, I have it set up in my kids sandbox as there is no shade there. ITs fantastic! Blocks the light and cools down the heat in the summer so we can actually play in the sandbox. I ordered the green!

Purchased this to provide shade in a large dog kennel. Looks classy and has held up well.

This shade sail is perfect. I use it on my dock, leaving it out all summer. It has weathered two heavy wind storms with no problems. I like the grommet holes for tying it to different parts of my pergola. The colour looks great with the blue water and my blue Adirondack chairs.

I bought this 4 years ago and have used it each year over my pool. It has performed well and is good value for the money. I used 4 x 4 posts mounted in concrete as a base that extend 5 feet above my deck. I then purchased 2" heavy galvanized pipe with threaded ends 10' high and mounted the female end of the threaded base to my deck. With a large D ring mounted to the 4 x 4 and then screwed into the base I have a 10' high platform to mount the sail. I have two eye bolts mounted 8" apart near the top where my pulley is attached and then an anchor line as support. I use paracord to raise and lower the sails. I have a 9'6" sail and a 16' sail both triangles that shade the pool during July and August. When fall comes I just put them in a plastic bin and wait for next year. No mildew issues, rips or tears.

Exactly what I wanted! Very well made, sturdy materials. What's nice about this is I can unhook two sides of the sail shade and pivot it around to have the shade hit another spot in the yard. I'll probably buy a second one later one.

We put three of these up last year and while they work great, we found that we wanted a bit more shade than they provide*, so these are to supplement those and cover more area. The kids love going under the shade and we do, too. We have one under the apple tree, over a glider, to keep bird droppings, leaves, apples, etc., from dropping on our little sitting area, and it also catches stray sun that comes through the leaves. All the others are over a larged paver patio in the back yard. We put up 4x4's and string them between the poles and it really does make it cooler. Plus, flowers and herbs that had baked in the sun previously did great under that amount of shading. We were surprised to learn that basil and parsley do NOT like baking, even with frequent watering. They did so much better with some shade. We took them down in late fall and stored them over winter and put them back up when the weather got hot. No signs of wear or deterioration on any of them. They have stood up to snow, rain, hail (small), and 50-60 mph winds during storms. They do a bit of flapping, but no ripping or tearing.*We know now to allow more for the 'moving shade' as the sun stays put while the earth rotates; we didn't factor that in first time. Our shade kept moving away from our seating areas. These new ones will go up a few feet south of the original ones to allow for the sun being at more of a slant.

I picked one up last summer to put over the kids swing set to help keep things cool for mid summer mid day play and it worked really well, until a storm came along and just like a sail does it came down. But the sun sail was fine it was the wood post I put it up with, I just used 2x2's. This summer I picked up another one and set them up together over our deck for a party we had and again it was perfect. They are only 9' triangles so they don't cast a big shade spot but what they do cover is at the least 10 degrees cooler. Again another storm came along a few days later and down they came, but again it was only the post and the sails were still in perfect condition. So lesson learned I put up 4x4 posts of the ends of my deck went and bought another sun sail (yes that make 3) and they are still standing altogether over our deck and there have been a few storms and they have not weakened at all. I set them up with the rope ties they come with and at the ends use simple stainless steel carabiners form the hardware store and the hook on to o-ring bolts on the house and on the posts for simple and fast removal. Take a look around on line for images of how they are set up commercially, and adapt that to what you need to do at home its worth it.

I purchased the Coolaroo Party Sail (9ft) --- bought one in blue and one in orange and both colors are very nice.It was very easy to hang (2 sides attached to large trees and the other to a post) and it provides a certain amount of shade for me in an area that is brutal during the morning hours. The shade that this size Sail provides is minimal, but for me provides just enough shade for my patio for when I sit on my outdoor bench. The sail provides a little more shade than an umbrella does, but with the sail, I don't have to worry about windy days when my umbrella gets turned over or I have to chase it across the yard. Also, when it rains, water does not collect as the fabric allows for the water to go through. All around, it's a very nice alternative to umbrellas that I have to keep replacing after they get damaged by the wind. I plan to get a larger one for another area of my yard. I'm very happy with the product and the price was good too!

I must say I was looking for a larger triangle sun-shade, but was grabbed by the color. SO- it is smaller than I really wanted. This sail doesn't come with hardware and only has grommets in the corner, which I worry about.... I tried to figure out why they were call "party sails" and figure it is because it is of a lighter weight material and probably less durable/enduring than the regular Coolaroo products. SO- will probably have to replace it sooner than later... and am looking for another sail to cover the area this just doesn't quite manage to cover.

We bought this item because we were constantly adjusting our umbrella which was placed next to a small patio with an overhang. The coolaroo attached to the side of the overhang perfectly and we then attached the third point to a fence post. We bought another coolaroo and did the same thing on the other side. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the color We bought the yellow...the other selections were not acceptable. It is very pretty but slightly too bright ( a warmer version of yellow would have been nicer but this is more of a lemon yellow, cooler and somewhat harsher) and I repeated the yellow by buying some items for the patio in the same version of the color but I would have preferred a warm sand color or a terra cotta. We love the fact that it does not collect water and it is very pleasant to sit under it. It gives us more space because we are not dealing with a pole in the middle of the area. I hope they will make it in more neutral colors eventually because this is a really great idea much less expensive and prettier than an off-set umbrella.
