This was a replacement wick for a small oil lamp. WThe new wick works but doesn't wick as well as the original wick

Bought this to replace an old wick that must have been the original in two vintage outside oil lamps from the 1970s. Trimmed it to the size I wanted, but after cutting, the fibers are soft— so pinch them and twist as you insert into the canal to make it easier. Be sure that the entire wick is saturated and drip a few drops into the top so there is no part of the wick left dry. Makes a nice flame.
