Perfect!!One of our 8’ tall closet doors was so hard to open that my wife literally pulled the handle off the door. The low quality ball catch was installed when we built the house 5 years ago. I removed it to try and make it work better. When I looked to buy one and saw it was only $5, I just bought one.Installation was a breeze as the hole was already there. I just pushed it into the hole by hand. The door works like butter now.I’m going to buy three more right now to replace all the others I have.

Two surprises, I was looking for this at our local box store and they did not have it. Used my Amazon app and purchased Saturday morning and it arrived and delivered at my office door step Sunday. My wife had to go in and found it on the front door, Post office totally surprised me with that delivery. The door catch is a perfect fit, slide in the sleeve, then inserted the ball holder, perfect. The best feature was the screw in / out adjuster. The original ones from 10 years ago did not have any adjustment, very nice feature, no trying to shim the door frame. Nice and quiet. 100 percent improvement.

These did the trick. Have a few older models with the plastic collars that have been giving out after ~3 years. These are in our master closet, so see pretty frenquent use. I was impressed with how quick the install was. I did use the old collars to make a better fit, as these were a bit smaller than the diameter of the ones I replaced. So keep your old parts. Adjustable via screw mechanism. The whole ball/collar turns clockwise/counterclockwise to adjust up and down. No screwdriver needed to adjust as with the other ones w/ the plastic notched collars. Going to get a bunch more of these and tuck away in anticipation of the others blowing.

Easy to install from scratch. Easy to replace like cylindrical ball mechanisms of SAME or SMALLER diameter. Not really sold as an ordinary interior door ball catch, more for cabinet or light closet doors. Builders these days use them for french door installations. They are not really heavy duty enough for long time use in a door in moderate or heavy use. Being so easy to replace compensates for need to replace every three years are in heavy use applications. I keep a couple spares on hand for my 4 sets of interior French Doors.
