This one piece mount was specifically developed for the savage 42. Savage references part #41942, however part #41950 is the part number that you need for the 42. Picatinny cross slots run the full length of the rail, which gives the shooter flexibility when mounting scope rings and other accessories. The channel in the center reduces the overall mass of the mount, weighing in at 2-3oz on average. Also, in many cases, it will not obstruct usage of factory iron sights. Egw's one piece scope mounts are the obvious choice for hunters and tactical shooters alike. This mount is a picatinny-style base and compatible with picatinny or weaver scope rings. Installation: egw recommends 20 inch lbs of torque and a drip of blue thread locker (sold separately).

If you want to mount a red dot or optic, it is about your only option. Still worth it!

Great mount. It is definitely worth every penny. Looks to be made extremely well. It even came with extra hardware and a t10 bit to mount it.

Awesome mount, more than happy with my purchase. Solid machined aluminum with a black finish. Fits perfectly, the two mounting screws are sturdy. I used a torque wrench to tighten them to spec, 20 inch/lbs per the instructions. My tru glo site mounted securely and stayed firm after sighting both .22lr and .410 barrels

The Evolution Gun Works Scope Base for the Savage Model 42 is exactly what I needed. I had recently bought the Savage Model 42 at a Gander Mountain going-out-of-business sale. It is a long gun that I have been eying for a very long time. When I finally got it, the very next day I went to the range with it. I had heard about the horrible reviews of the sights. Although I was fairly accurate with the plastic "iron" sights, I felt the need to upgrade my sights. That's where the Evolution Gun Works Scope Base came into play. After installing the mount, I ordered a set of Vortex Optics scope rings, which were also amazing quality, and mounted my scope to the long gun. I had a small 4x15 scope lying and knew it would complete the slim. simple, minimalist look of this firearm. The next day I went shooting and the mount held just fine and the scope worked about as well as I expected it to as well!Simply put, this is a worthwhile investment for people who own a Savage Model 42.

This works great to mount a Red Dot or Reflex optic on. My savage looks a little silly with the Red Dot that I chose (Vortex Spitfire) but boy is it accurate. I got a good deal on the Vortex and the quality is great!I'm assuming that the quality control specs for this are very good because I was on paper and on the bulls eye in no time.
