Setup & First Impressions:Right out of the box, I had questions- was this a nail clipper or a nail file? Turns out, it’s a bit of both. It grinds down your nails instead of clipping them, so if you’re looking for that satisfying snap of traditional clippers, this would’ve felt like a totally different vibe. It’s compact, charges with USB-C (a win), and it feels light but sturdy in hand. I liked that it powered on with a long press- less chance of it turning on in a drawer.Real-World Use:It’s been a game-changer for my fingernails. I’ve got relatively thin nails that grow fast, and this let me maintain length without risking jagged edges or splits. I just slid each nail into the opening and gently rocked it from side to side while the grinder did its thing. The result was a smooth, curved edge- better than I’ve gotten with most files.There’s a tiny tray that collects the dust (yes, it’s dust, not clippings), so cleanup is easier than expected. I wouldn’t call this ideal for thick toenails or curved, brittle ones—it’s a snug fit and might not give enough power for heavy-duty jobs. This is a new product type to me (I didn’t even know these existed before it popped up one day) so I’m not sure what I should have expected. This thing works. But it’s more like the action of an electric nail file (it has tiny blades that shave off in little crumbs) than what I would expect of a “clipper.” Because of that, the same general limitations of a nail file also apply to this device - namely, it doesn’t work well for a ripped or soft nail, it can’t get too close to the nail bed (short/medium nails at a minimum,) and I cant get it to work properly on 8/10 toes. What it DOES do well is catch the shavings, trim quickly, and it gives a little light on the nail to allow work without bright direct lighting. I was able to trim all my fingers, most with a smooth finish, in 5 min. There was barely any loose clipping dust so clean up was very easy. I think I’ll need more practice to see if I can improve my skills in order to shape the nail deliberately.It’s nice and compact - roughly half the size of a basic iPhone, though thicker.This trimmer has to be turned on with a long-push to the button, then it can be switched from zero up through 3 speeds. The little included brush works great to clean the trimming head and the drawer, and the back end of the brush can be used to eject the drawer for clean out. A short charging cord is included, but any USB-C seems to work (even my high powered laptop charger.)

My nails grow pretty fast, so about every three weeks I find that they are too long and need to be clipped and filed. This sometimes results in the edges of my nails splitting, so I was looking for another solution. I don't know what I was expecting, but since these say they are a nail clipper, I guess I thought they would clip my nails. In reality, it is basically an electric filer, that has three different speeds to "chip" down your nails. I say "chip" because what is collected in the little box is between clippings and filings.There's a bit of a learning curve to this to make your nails symmetrical. And if you have thick nails, they will not fit in the thin slot where you have to put your nails, so I wouldn't expect this to work for an old person with those thick, curved, long nails. I think this would be great for children's nails, and they might even find it fun to use.I will continue to use this to help keep my nails at a length I like, instead of letting them get too long and having to clip them.
