I bought this product to matt photos with a backboard. These pieces are about an 1/8th inch short of 11 inches width and a 1/4 inch short of 14 inches long. When attached to the backboard, they leave at 1/8 inch margin of backboard sticking out on three sides. They are also quite thin. While being thin and a bit short might be OK for mounting in a frame, they are not good qualities for attaching to a backboard.

I ordered these mats to use with some photos I was entering in the county fair. They were a decent price for the number of mats in the set. These mats are okay. They are somewhat on the thin side and I wouldn't use them for framing artwork or photos that I want to hang on my wall because they wouldn't match the other framed items I have in my home, but for use with photos being entered in the fair, they are fine. The other thing I don't care for about these mats is that they are more of an off-white color than pure white. I used white foam core boards as backing for the photos (that is what is required for the entries) and these mats are definitely not the bright white that the foam core board is. Overall, they were fine for my needs, but anyone considering purchasing them should know that they are thinner than the custom cut mats you get at framing stores and they are off white in color.

I got these to enhance the look of framed gifts I give to others. I've used them for making photos and art prints look professionally framed. They are not too thin as to be easily damaged and they are not too thick as to make it difficult to fit a frame. I've had kids draw on them for a personal touch on framed photo gifts to the grandparents. They are really versatile and help to upgrade the framed object. I recommend.

As someone new to watercolor, I have been astounded at all the non-standard sized watercolor blocks, which is especially frustrating because watercolor needs to be framed behind a protective covering (glass/plexi) or sealed to prevent water damage.Many of my painting blocks are roughly 9"x12", and if I mask enough of the edges before I paint, I can trim the paper to 8.5"x11" and use one of these mats to display it in an 11"x14" frame, which is far less expensive and more convenient than custom framing! These are a great tool for that purpose, and the white is nice and neutral.
