PCIe storage/memory looks to be getting more popular - or in demand, maybe, it was just a handful of years ago that an I.T. tech guy here in town told me such couldn't be used on my PC desktop. I just recently installed 2TB NVMe SSD on an adapter so that is no longer the case. I got this for the custom-build ITX project that's in the works, novel components, etc. catch my curiosity quite readily; because the whole build/refurb/restore computers thing is same as brand new in my bubble, I've little to no reservations about trying out stuff, quite often I simply don't "know better," or not. This came with only the taller, full-size bracket where it probably should have had both, although my chassis will fit this one, nor is it usually terribly difficult to score and use the other size. It is all plug-and-play simple really, the most difficult thing may be in the BIOS settings to tell the PC to recognize it. If one doesn't have space to add in another 2.5" SSD, this is certainly a very affordable option for a work-around.

I've been curious about the new U.3 drives, and thought I'd first try this adapter with a sata ssd (the U.3 port should be backward compatible with sata ssds, though much slower). Unfortunately my older PC would not recognize this adapter & drive. I don't know what the problem is, but I can't rule out my older motherboard.

Unfortunately, this adapter was dead on arrival. I tested it with three known good solid-state drives—two hard disk drives and one solid-state drive—but none were recognized. Since the packaging arrived in perfect condition with no visible damage (as shown in the photos), this appears to be a manufacturing defect rather than shipping damage. I even attempted to reformat the drives, but they weren’t detected by the OS at all.Installation was very straightforward. The AIC came with M.2 screws for securing the drive and additional screws for mounting it in a case. Both the drive and the card itself slotted into the PCIe slot effortlessly. However, I did notice that the metal bracket was slightly bent right out of the box, which is also shown in the photos.Even with an easy installation, a product that doesn’t function is a complete failure. Because of that, I have to give it a one-star rating.

I have purchased quite a few different GLOTRENDS PCIe products in the past, but they have been for NVMe instead of for 2.5" SSD.This PCIe card allows you to add a SATA SSD 2.5" using PCIe lanes for maximum speed. Therefore, you should consider purchasing the best 2.5" SSD available. For me, I would recommend Samsung PRO or EVO model of SSDs. They are incredibly cheap these days. I did have some EVO SSDs lying around so I am using them for my home server. The speed is fantastic, there is full speed support as opposed to limitations with some SATA buses. Note that this occupies PCIe lanes so if you are using many PCIe products this may cause an issue, but for most, it won't.I'm really happy with this product because of how easy it is to add 2.5" SSD to my server rather than having to buy additional spinning hard drives which are slower and NVMEs which cost more.

I've had these U.2 drives for a while now and never thought I'd be able to use any of them until this showed up. I was skeptical that this would work with this comparatively older Intel board that I use for Proxmox. It was recognized right away and I was able to deploy it in Proxmox to expand my storage for two VMs to share - a Debian client with qbittorrent as a seedbox and a Windows client with AgentDVR for NVR. It just works.

This works fine, holds drives securely, and fits properly. The only complaint is that I would like to see some shielding for the pcie lanes. But other than that, I have no complaints.

Can be troublesome getting it to work right the first time. Not all motherboards like this device, took me a couple before finding one that recognized it. Possibly due to chipset used? Once installed, I noticed the drive speeds were lower than claimed. Definitely usable, but not as fast as it should be. I took off a star for performance and compatibility.

Solid manufactured card. I have only used in PCIe 4.0 X4. Multiple OS compatibility. Can be set to bootable drive. Works as described. Completely satisfied with this card.
