I used it to cut a 1"x1" tube in seconds. Just connect an any type of air compressor and 120v or 240v power. It's easier to cut than saw and grinder. And it is more safety than saws and grinders.

I ordered this plasma cutter for my husband , a little something for the man who has everything(but a plasma cutter)! He doesn’t like reading directions so he watched a couple of videos on the web to learn how to use it . He has used it several times no, with no complaints. He’s a happy camper!

I've wanted a plasma cutter since I first heard about them twenty years ago, but I couldn't justify the expense for a home shop user. I do a little hobbyist welding and forging, but I cut my metal either with a blade in a grinder or a bandsaw. When I saw this deal on a plasma cutter I jumped on it. I was excited to see it when it arrived and I think I read the instruction book three or four times, and then watched about four or five videos on plasma cutting basics. I got the correct 240v 50amp outlet wired into my shop. I thought I was ready to go, and I sort of was, but I learned a couple things right away: it's powerful, and there's some important stuff I still need to learn. The instructions for this cutter are really quite good, but they don't cover everything- there's a general reference to setting the amps and air, but you have to figure out exact settings on your own for different situations. The air pressure will sit at one reading when idle, but during use it drops. My experience with small welders taught me that the smaller you go the harder it is to get work done, so I never considered using 120v, although it can surely be done and I'll probably attempt it at some time in the future. They say at 120 volts the input is 40 amps, though, so I don't know what circuit would be able to handle it as regular outlets are either 15 or 20 amps. The setup was easy, but the instructions do stress the importance of using clean, dry air so I added a filter to the line. This does require an air compressor, I think mine is 1-3/4 h.p. and it was able to handle the job. There is a power switch on the back and three buttons on the front: the top one toggles between test (that lets air run through the tip if your connections are right) and cut, the normal setting. The second button toggles 2T and 4T; as I understand it 2T is for hand held use and 4T is if it's connected to a CNC machine. The third button toggles between the air pressure designation of PSI or MPa, which is metric (Mega Pascal is one tenth atmosphere). The knob on the control panel decreases the air pressure from whatever the line pressure is. I think it's better to set the line pressure high (90 psi or so) and reduce it to 50 -65 psi on the machine as it will maintain pressure level better that way. The large illuminated display makes all the settings easy to read and confirm. I found I could monitor the air pressure during the cut with a glance at the unit- easy to read.Included is a spare tip and shroud, which are good to have on hand- it's best to go ahead and order spare consumable parts so you aren't tempted to use the tool when parts are badly worn and can damage other parts.I can't speak to how this plasma cutter compares to others, but as a beginner I found it easy to set up and easy to cut metal, even if the edge wasn't pretty. My practice piece was an old lawnmower blade, which I've since learned are made from spring steel and may require different setting than mild steel. The instructions say to try to maintain a 1/16 inch gap between the tip and the metal, not to drag the tip like I did. My brother has much more experience with these than I do and assured me I'd get better with practice. I feel the tool is capable and well made, so I can recommend it if you're looking for an entry level plasma cutter.

This cutter is reasonably priced and it cuts great. I always wanted a plasma cutter, and this is the best price and quality come ination for entry level, but it works so well I probably won't upgrade because I'm extremely happy with this one.

The only reason I'm going with 4 rather than 5 stars is I haven't had enough opportunity to use this cutter to get a sense of how well it will hold up over time. From what I can tell based on a few short uses it seems reasonably well made given the price so I'm hopeful that given the amount of use for which it is likely intended (home, hobbyist, weekend projects occasional job in other circumstances) it will hold up well.If I learn more either way I'll update.
