These are good quality micrometers. They are sturdy and measure accurately. They come with standards for each micrometer so you can adjust them for accurate readings. Like any precision tool, you must adjust them properly and maintain them. With proper adjustment these are as accurate as much more expensive versions.

First, I gave this five stars simply because I recognize what these are appropriate for. I will be using this for producing 3-D designs for my 3-D printer as well as for 2-D drawings for my CO2 laser cutter. I may also use them in my classroom for 3-D printing.These are not necessarily something that you would use for measuring manufactured items to be used in a jet engine or other assembly that requires highly stringent requirements (low tolerance). If you are using this in a maker environment at home, this is definitely going to do the trick since the variance of a 3-d printed part can be much more than what the error is from these micrometers. In other words, the variance of the part manufacturing process is more likely to cause issues rather than the much smaller error introduced from a slightly inaccurate measurement used for the creation of a design. For designs that are tolerant of errors, this set is perfect too. I am not saying that this set will yield huge errors, because what I found is that they are pretty darn accurate once adjusted, which is rather easy to do.I measured the rods that are used for adjustments/calibrations to zero of the micrometers: They are reasonably accurate - off by fractions of thousandths - a pretty good tolerance for these.The only thing that I found that I did not care for was that one of the thimbles turned with a little more resistance at one point in its 360 degree rotation which may have indicated that the internal thread may not have been machined as smooth as it could have been. The amount of friction that it produced was minimal and I did not think it affected the measurement at all. The ratchets worked reasonably well too. Six micrometers for less that ninety dollars in an amazing deal in my book, especially when they provide measurements appropriate for their purpose.If you know what you need, you can buy appropriate tools that will last and provide proper function! For me, this is perfect, and I can thus fully recommend them!
