This is my review for H&G Lifestyles Inline Water Filter for Washing Machine, Anti-Scale Garden Hose Filter,Reduce Water Hardness, with 3/4" GHT Prevents Scale Build Up,Descaler for Water Heater Patio Swamp Cooler 1Pack. H&G Lifestyles has an interesting product lineup with the focus on water filters. This product is not a filter in the true sense of the word. It exchanges ions with calcium and magnesium rendering them unable to stick to surfaces and form scale. I used it on my garden hose as a final rinse after washing my truck. The results were excellent and I had no water spots whatsoever. Since the filter did not fit my washing machine I purchased a short extension hose WI12SSFM here on Amazon. The results here are not so clear-cut. The softer water in the washing machine does not make any more bubbles because the soap just doesn't do that anymore. I also tested the water hardness and did not see any lowering compared to regular tap water. So as I continue to wash my clothes I will watch to see if there's a change in cleanliness. Also, on a late Sunday night I reached out to h&g's customer service to inquire how many gallons of water this product would treat and they responded that night that this product will the descale 300 to 400 gallons. Wow.

I’ve been using this water descaler for my washing machine and water heater, and I’m impressed with how well it works. It’s easy to install and immediately softened my water, which has helped reduce scale buildup. My appliances seem to be running more efficiently, and I love that it protects them from damage. It’s a great solution for anyone dealing with hard water!

Did not end up fitting on my pretty standard washing machine water spigot - neither on the tap directly or on the machine itself. Don't have an external garden spigot at my apartment complex, so I'll be attempting an install at my partners' place this weekend to see if it fits there. If so, I'll allow him to use it for watering his plants, which I'm sure will be thankful for some softer water than what they've been getting from the hose so far. Will update when I go to install and will relay whether it fits this time or not and will update my review accordingly.

These work but do not hook these directly to a spigot it will strip the threads every time. Screw the filter directly to the back of washer. Then hook the supply line to the filter.

For the life of me I cannot understand why I haven't been using one of these all along. I have this installed on a water hose for my back deck's swamp cooler. After several refills of the water reservoir, I have noticed a considerable decrease in sediments and calcium buildup. Logic would suggest it would work just as well on my washing machine's intake. Fairly compact and easy to isntall, just hook it up in-line with your water intake. Apply a little plumber's tape and zero leakage. Also does not appear to significantly decrease water flow. Works just like an RV water filter. Will be ordering more in the near future!

I am trying to get rid of white dust from a home humidifier. Purchasing distilled water would cost about $70 a month. I tried this filter because of the price and simplicity. It functioned as described. It lowered the harness to zero using a water hardness test strip from my hot tub kit. A word of caution. Don't depend on a cheap digital electronic water hardness tester as it measures all solids and you will still get a reading similar to straight tap water. Also, run the water slowly through this filter to give it time to work. Now I just have to see how long it lasts at about 2 gals a day.

Seems to filter out the hard water scale as intended. Not seeing any build up on the misting heads after daily use and none of them have clogged either which is a good sign. I had been using a different filter that costs 3x as much and would only last 6 months so giving this a thumbs up just based on price and performance thus far. I plan to pick up another one to put inline on my washing machine as well (as this was intended) to see how much a difference it makes there too since it is doing such a great job.

I have a portable washing machine, that I like to use when camping. I can connect this washing machine water filter to a 3/4" garden hose or tap. It softens water by removing calcium and magnesium, which allows all types of soap to lather better. So I'll be using this, not just for washing clothes, but for washing dishes, and for maintaining good hygiene, also. I won't be using this until Summer, but now I'm prepared.
