These work great. I used them to make an off grid water filtration system with 2 2gal food grade buckets. Pouring the water into the top and having the filter gravity feed the water into the lower bucket and using the spigot to pour into containers for use.I use about 2 gal every 2-3 days and after many months I am still on the first filter and it is working great as it has a 3000 gal est. life span.

If you need, or want, to construct a water filtration system easily and use for camping or emergency situations this product will work fine....provided that you have two (02) five-gallon buckets that you're willing to use for this project. These filters, and provided spigot, will work just fine.

It is very slow, which is expected. And the water seems good. I have not had anything tested, but after using it for all my drinking / cooking water for 6 months, I have not had any issues health wise. I DO PREFILTER my creek water so this filter doesn't clog up too fast!My only thing keeping it from 5 stars it the weak threads securing it. After removing it for cleaning, the 3rd time it leaked. I had to use epoxy t secure it. So now it is not removable.

I wanted to make an emergency gravity fed water filtration system, just in case the grid and or water system goes down. If you are into preparedness this system is a need for your back up supplies. I just used (2) 3 gal buckets with lids drilled the hole needed through the top bucket and the bottom lid and seated the filter. The filter will filter out all the stuff you do not want in your water and what is gravity fed into the lower bucket is clean drinking water! Fun project and this filter set is all that is needed.

Excellent filter performance both in quality of filtering and speed of production. My only comparison are the British Berkefeld Doulton W9121200 7" Super Sterasyl filters purchased from Amazon in October of 2016.The Setup(s): 2 Huining filters installed in a 3.5 gal. 2-bucket system, and 4 of the Doulton filters installed in a separate 3.5 gal. 2-bucket system. (2-bucket system = filters in one bucket above "clean" bucket below w/ spigot). The 2-filter Huining system filters faster than the 4-filter Doulton. Granted, the Doultons have had much more use, as we have been using them since 2016 (at approx. 100 gallons filtered per year up until we added the Huinig system in 2022 which effectively cut the duty use to 50 gallons. What we use these for: Filtering creek water at the mountain cabin, and general emergency preparedness.Minor Issue: When using a plastic bucket, there is not enough thread on the "nipple" for the supplied nut to sufficiently tighten when using the supplied washer. Even after adding a rubber garden hose washer, you have to be careful when tightening the nut, as it will still skip threads and become loose. It is possible to get it sufficiently tight, but you have to be careful.MAJOR CAVEAT: The filters do not survive being frozen if damp. Last November when shutting down the cabin for the winter, the filters were cleaned and left installed in the buckets with the lids off to allow them to air dry. It appears that the bottom of the filter where it is glued into the plastic base take much longer to dry out than the filter body. 3 out of 4 of our Huining filters (we have two Huining 2-filter bucket setups) did not dry sufficiently before the cabin froze. The ceramic filter body cracks where it is attached to the plastic base, basically separating the filter from the base. This was the first time since using these filters that we stayed this late into the early winter season, so until now the filters had enough time to fully dry before freezing weather set in. Interestingly, the Doultons do not seem to suffer this issue, or they dry out faster than the Huining filters. We will still continue to use these filters, but with the knowledge that before winterizing the cabin we will have to remove the filters from the buckets and take them with us until we return in the spring. The Huining filters are still a fantastic value, just be aware of this one limitation.Cheers!*EDIT: I forgot to mention that Huining immediately shipped out replacements after I contacted them through Amazon's messages.
