While not perfect, this setup could help build a healthy interest in science. The digital scope is easier to use than a traditional microscope, but it still offers enough magnification to view fascinating details normally invisible to the eye. The bundled experiment cards and lab kit provide a solid jumping-off point for deeper exploration, although some parts aren’t optimized for the included scope’s capabilities.The microscope’s 4.3" screen produces a bright and vibrant picture, but its controls can be confusing. For example, you push the "camera" key to take photos in video mode but must use the "OK" button in still-picture mode. The wireless remote is convenient but also labeled differently than the scope (remote’s "camcorder" button corresponds to "OK" on the base).Magnification is advertised as "up to 220X", but I saw about 100X at most (0.5mm shows as 50mm on-screen, with digital zoom set to max). It’s plenty for close examination of bugs, leaves, etc., but you won’t be seeing individual cells under this microscope. I wish that the focusing controls were easier to turn, as any adjustments produce heavy screen shake, even with the rear friction knob fully loosened.The six included "Microscope Adventures" cards are nicely written (in contrast to the broken English of the scope’s instruction manual), but they seem geared toward use with compound microscopes of greater magnification. E.g., the cards describe slide preparation but none are included in this kit.The bundle is rounded out with Petri dishes, nutrient agar and such, which can be used to grow the included yeast and other bacteria/molds. An adult may need to take care of the prep work, as it involves handling boiling liquid and portioning it into the dishes.Overall, I’d give this digital microscope set a four-star rating. The scope is decent but could benefit from some usability improvements. The other parts of the kit are fine but potentially better paired with a more powerful instrument. There are limits to what you can see at 100X magnification.

This is an absolutely wonderful product for any child with a desire for science. My granddaughter loves using this and is learning so much about microbiology. The screen is a nice display and it comes with a lot of accessories to get you started. Petri dishes and different compounds to grow and explore with the microscope. It is great if you are into the STEAM program because this will definitely aid in this. It was a little difficult to acquire but the wait was well worth it.

My two sons love STEM-related projects. When I saw this, I knew this was going to provide hours of educational fun. The kit includes a decent video microscope -- while not very high-powered, the camera magnifier provided sufficient power to view the cultured bacteria on agar plates that we prepared (included in this kit). Comes with several nice cards for the kids to review and to assist with designing their own projects to review with this digital microscope. The viewing LCD screen is nice and bright. Comes with a mini USB slot to store photos and videos off the camera, as needed -- we have not yet taken advantage of this feature just yet. Overall, my sons have already spent a good few hours with this which makes this well worth the investment.
