This isn’t a kit as much as a coloring book with pastels. I assumed it would have detailed information and guides to learn about pastels but it’s not that at all.No tools for blending.

So I was looking for something to just chill with, and I figured this would be a good way to reintroduce me into oil pastels. It's not. I wouldn't gift this to anyone not even myself. pictures are beautiful, the instructions are amazing. But holy cow do the oil pastels the main part of this kit suck. Maybe I just got a super old batch that are showing their age but in my kit the pastels didn't smudge to blend and if you tried really hard to, you'd just get left a very faint afterthought of color. Wanted to add white to your picture, not going to happen. it doesn't even show up to do anything. Both white colors are like this. the only use for them that I've found is to get the tiniest of smudges but even then. I'm a grown adult who has had experience with this medium before. I can't even imagine what a kid would feel especially when their able to see on youtube what oil pastels are suppose to be like. These felt more like crayons. overly expensive crayons.

Product looks very nice, but amazon shipped it bent out of shape and is missing two chalks. Maybe try to buy it in store so yours isnt damaged.

PASTEL STUDIO is a fantastic book set that teaches techniques for using oil pastels, includes a rainbow of colors, and coloring sheets to create fun masterpieces. The book shows children how to blend, add texture, and make new colors with oil pastels, complete with practice space for each technique. The book then includes high-quality, thick coloring sheets that they can use to create masterpieces along with the rainbow of oil pastels and blending sticks.What I loved: This is such a great introduction to oil pastels. Not knowing much about them myself, I found myself learning about the cool techniques alongside my child. There is much to learn in the book, and then plenty of ways to put it in action. The thick coloring sheets include lots of fun designs of animals, word art, and more. They are perforated, so it is easy to take them out and display, but they also include a tissue sheet protector if children want to leave them in the book. Children could take these lessons and then create other fabulous works with oil pastels. There is much to learn and explore that would definitely spark hours of fun in artsy little ones.Final verdict: With plenty to learn and create, PASTEL STUDIO is a great gift for artistically inclined children to learn and create with oil pastels. Highly recommend for children of any age who love to color or paint!Please note that I received a review copy. All opinions are my own.
