On the battlefields of the twentieth century, Major General Robert Urquhart was the commander of the British 1st Airborne Division during Operation Market Garden in September 1945, losing three out of four of his men in the vicious battle of Arnhem. The action is depicted in the 1977 film A Bridge Too Far, with Sean Connery in the role of Major Urquhart. On the stage, Molly Urquhart was the actress best known for her role in the popular television series such Dr Finlay’s Casebook.
