This is a very nice matcha preparation set. The chawan and stand are very nice and the glazing is smooth and consistent. The color is one of a pale matcha latte and I really enjoy the color. They feel sturdy and of a good weight.The chashaku is your typical bamboo chashaku and is about the same size as others I have. It isn't the highest quality one though and I'd like to see it have a bit smoother finish and the scoop be a little thinner with sharper edges, but it works. It scoops a similar amount as all the others I have.The chasen is well made and it blooms nicely without the tines going straight. The outer tines keep their j-hook shape making the job of whisking your matcha a joy. The drying stand is just the right size and shape for the chasen to be stored on, ensuring it keeps its shape and will last you a long time, maybe many years.The chawan is nice looking and of a good size so you don't make a mess when whisking your matcha. However, if you are a purist, the addition of pouring spout may be a bit anathema to you. It may mess with the aesthetics if you are into the ceremony of matcha tea prep and drinking. It makes it nice for those who make their matcha into a latte or other drink.If you are looking for a good matcha prep set for your first time, you won't go wrong picking this one. It is a good value for the price. If you end up really getting into the ceremony and ritual of matcha prep, you may want to invest in a new chasen without the pouring spout.

This is a very nice matcha set that includes everything you need for matcha making except the sifter. The bowl is a nice large size that's perfect for making enough matcha for several drinks. The bowl is thick and the pour spout works great. The whisk and stand are adequate. The spoon holds a decent amount of powder. My only complaint with this set is that the finish on the whisk stand doesn't match the finish on the bowl which is unfortunate because the bowl finish is quite lovely. I won't be keeping this set out but if I were keeping it out on a counter or tea station setup I would want these pieces to match. The bowl has a matte finish while the stand has a very glossy finish that's much darker in color than the bowl. Overall, I think this set is worth the price and would be great for anyone who likes to make matcha at home.

The build quality on this set is terrific. I'm especially impressed with the external and internal of the bowl itself. I have several pricy bowls purchased from a local tea shop, and though this is more modern it is just as nice. It says dishwasher safe but I'll probably just handwash it to be safe. The whisk seems nicer that cheap one I purchased from the same shop, the scoop is just as nice.The pictures in the listing don't show the scoop stand is actually hollow all the way though, so matcha powder will fall from the scoop through it to the surface underneath. That wasn't bad enough to remove a star, but I wanted folks to know.

This set replaced my original start set, and it is of much better quality. I love that it comes with a stand for the whisk to help it keep shape while drying after cleaning! It includes everything you need—the bowl, whisk (chasen), scoop (chashaku), and whisk holder—all beautifully crafted and thoughtfully packaged.The bowl is the ideal size and has a nice weight to it, making it easy to whisk without spills. The bamboo whisk works really well to create a smooth, frothy matcha, and the scoop makes it easy to measure the right amount of powder. It’s also just a really calming, meditative process that’s become part of my afternoon routine.Everything feels high quality and holds up well with regular use.
