The quality of this starter kit is great, all the connections tighten securely, and the fittings match other NMEA 2000 brand backbones and drop cables. All of the wires appear to be tinned copper, and the interior wire jacket colors conform to industry standards (red is Net S and black is Net C for power, and data is white for CAN + and blue for CAN -, and the bare shield). All of the pieces functioned perfectly, and I was able to attach my VHF radio to my NMEA backbone easily. With an adaptor, I’ll be able to tie in a marine stereo to my MFD, as well. At its current price of about $100, it’s a great value.

You get quite a few components for the price with this kit and it's a great value for the money as a result. I used it to rig up my Garmin to my Yamaha, and it was very easy to use and install. The cables function well, and appear to be made out of very good materials.

This all-in-one starter set for NMEA 2000 for Yamaha outboards contains everything you need to get a basic system installed, assuming you have the plotter/fishfinder. Installation is straightforward and directions are easily found on the Internet. Pricewise it competes with similar equipped systems. The connectors all appear well constructed.
