I've been using the FebSmart X520-DA1 for a few weeks now, and it's exceeded my expectations. The 10GbE connection has given me lightning-fast access to my NAS, making it feel like a dedicated server. The adapter is easy to install and the drivers are compatible with my Windows machine. I've also been impressed with its reliability and performance under heavy loads. Overall, it's been a great investment for anyone looking to upgrade their home network.

I tested this in a Proxmox (Debian based Linux) and a Windows 10 machine. Both had drivers built in and recognized the LAN card without issue. I don't get the full 10GB speeds, but that's to be expected considering this is using an older chipset. Either way, it works for what I need it to do, which is provide a direct connection between my desktop and my NAS.

Super easy install, 10GBe works great. All I did was add a 6COM SFP to RJ45 to it and download the Intel drivers as described in another review here. Works much better than my old stock 1GBe ethernet.

Picked this along with some other 10GB NICs up in order to upgrade some servers in my home environment (file server, 2 VM hosts, media server) doing native 10GB instead of bundling multiple 1G connections via LACP.This card has been rock solid thus far! Supports all the SFPs I’ve tried, links with no issues. Haven’t had any challenges with drivers and all worked well on Windows Server 2016 and 2019.I tested this card on Windows 10 as well, giving my desktop a 10G uplink to my LAN and it went off without a hitch. Highly recommended!

This 10g SFP+ card uses a the well known high quality intel 82599 controller chip that has been around for a long time. Just about every operating system has built in drivers. It did come with a driver disk but I didn’t need it. The only minor downsides to this controller is that is uses slightly more power than newer PCIe SFP+ controllers, and it uses an older PCIe version, 2.0. For most people this is not going to matter. The firmware is not fussy about SFP+ module brand, so it should work with just about anything. It is recognized as a PCIe x4 card as expected. The speeds I saw were in line with other 82599 based cards that I already have. The only issue I encountered, was that the bracket did not fit my system without modification. Basically the “ears” at the top of the bracket needed to be shortened 1-2mm. The system I tried it in has very little room for the top of the bracket, so not everyone will need to make this modification. Fortunately I have a benchtop grinder so it was easy to remove the bracket from the card and shave it down a little, this could also be done with a metal file.

10/29/2024 : I received an SFP-to-Ethernet adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DHKNZDTP ), so I was able to install the card physically in my computer (Windows 10). It is not plug and play, so make sure you download the drivers from intel (search for X520-DA1 drivers). Download the "Intel® Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack". For windows, unzip the file, then as per included instructions: "Navigate in your extracted files to APPSSETUPSETUPBD and then the Windows subfolder corresponding to your version of Windows (32-bit or 64-bit). Inside the Winx64 or Win32 folder, double-click on SetupBD.exe." Installation took a couple of minutes for me, I did not require a restart, I plugged in my ethernet, it shows as a 10G connection on my switch. I did not think the setup would play nicely with the 5Gb card on my NAS, but using crystaldisk I show a good 5Gb transfer speed, on par with what I get with my tp-link 10Gb pcie card! Excellent pcie and adapter pair!10/15/2024 : I am in the process of setting up a 10Gbps network, and this card looked useful for the option of SPF. It is well packaged, and looks good quality. Should not heat up like the RJ ethernet versions do, so it is appealing. Will update once I have enough material to test everything out.
