I have had many grills. This is the best one yet. Good high heat for searing. Very good low flame control which is the most important function of a grill. Decent during windy times as well. Get the cover to protect your investment, good quality.

This grill is better (in my opinion) than the W brand at a fraction of the price. It has 3 burners vs 2, heats up in a flash and cooks food evenly. The construction is very solid and the blue color is pleasing. Putting it together is pretty easy, aligning the grill to the base requires a second person and some patience. Some kind of alignment notches would have been nice. The OEM grill cover is well made and fits perfectly. This grill is well deserving of its high marks in CR.

This the same as Kenmore but a bit better design & a little cheaper. We're very happy with Permasteel.

The first one I had was a two burner. I absalutely did not take care of it. About 3 years in I lost the cover to a windstorm and never replaced it. This unit stayed on my deck 24-7 and 365 every year. It blew off the deck during storm and only bent the handle. After 15 years of abuse I finally replaced with same model but 3 burners. I highly recommend this unit for durability and even heat.

Gas grill arrived in perfect condition and was assembled in less than 3 beers. I take my time with the proper tools to carefully do it right. The directions are very clear and massively easy to follow. Packed tightly, there were no signs of any damage. The pitch before purchase was it's efficient, durable, convenient, easy to maintain, and compact. I have less need for frills and I don't need "shelves" or cabinet area to store anything. Kitchen tools belong in the kitchen. We're an all season area (Iowa) and winter can be harsh. I still use my grill even in sub-zero temperatures but storing grill tools outdoors is a bad idea in my experience.LIKES- Easy drip pan. Instead of a flimsy piece of corrugated steel secured with a tiny screw, it's higher quality steel and very easy to remove the actual liquid trappings (if any). There's actually 2 of them that are secured like sliding drawers. One main one that easily slides out and a secondary one as part of it.- Drop side-shelves. Helps to secure it out of the way in a smaller area and durable enough to put heavy things on it. Each shelf has sturdy hooks I doubt I'll use. Simple raising and lowering of the shelves when and if your hands are full.- Snug. The propane tank fits perfectly in the main column area and is secured by a handy latch for quick release in a propane-fill-need emergency...not that I've ever faced one. The benefit here is that the tank doesn't wobble around when you're moving the grill.- Wheels. Sturdy castor wheels that lock if you need them to (2 of them do). By sturdy, I mean big ones instead of those tiny squeaky things that wear out in 3 days. Screwed in tight, it's easy to see they won't snag on bumps.- Ignition. Electronic (battery powered) sparking to start on each of the 3 burners rather than just one main one. All three spark regardless of which burner you have turned on. They seem durable enough to last, but we shall see.DISLIKES- Hooks. Nice idea and they secure well. However, they are on the end of the fold-down shelves which is convenient if you always have the shelves up. Dropping the shelves for storing the grill away makes them useless. Since they are only half circle hooks, anything on them falls off if left on them when shelves are lowered...like the grill grate scrubber. Perhaps at least one hook on the cabinet would have been a good idea.- The pedestal. Just by the seeming top-heavy looks, it almost seems a good stiff wind might be a problem. I'm not a physicist, but I also don't know why the base isn't at least a little bit wider than the grill itself. It's pretty though.- The defusers. While there's handy notches to place them over the burners, they seem like an afterthought. I'm not familiar enough with the brand and failed to investigate if they were standard sized and easily replaceable when necessary. A mistake I made in my eagerness of purchase.- The knobs. Nice design but they seem kind of flimsy. We shall see. But with three burners, it's always hard to figure out what combination between the three gives you actual temperature control. The swooping symbol on the face from low to high isn't easy to decipher. I'm not entirely incompetent, but it might have been a good idea to use tic-marks instead to give some ability to discern consistency when using all 3 burners.UNDETERMINED- Temperature control. I've always just gone with "blast furnace" as my default setting - but only because the age of my previous grill necessitated it. With the knob issue identified above, I have yet to find "the zone" for various temperatures I need.- Hot spots. In early use - and the temperature issue described - it's a bit unfair to assess this so far. This will depend a lot on how sturdy the burners are with use. It'll be something to be learned.- Grill grates. They're cast iron coated, but still can rust, especially with "blast furnace" punishment I'll put them through. Again, my error in not investigating whether they're standard size for easy replacement when necessary.- Bottom pan opening. The giant area opening in the bottom of the grill makes me hope they'll actually perform their function in collecting bits that fall through. Previous grills had very tiny areas and cleaning the collection of gunk every season on the bottom was always a pain. We shall see.OVERALLConsumer Reports gave it a "recommended" buy based on their testing and for the quality of it at the price ($320). Sticker shock at area storefront retailers had me depressed for quite some time with average prices for the big name brands. I ended up, of course, here at Amazon for a brand I'd never heard of (Permasteel makes Kenmore brand too) but came rated as good as the big boys. The exact same design by Weber came in at $500.Then, there's the gizmo-infected $1,000 monsters with contraptions that tease us into believing we're going to be Bobby Flay backyard gurus. This is a simple grill to cook some stuff on it and bring it in the house to eat it and slide it out of the way until next time...it's not an entertainment center. There's no WiFi or Bluetooth because nobody actually needs that stuff. I'm not storing 3 grill spatulas and I've never used a side burner for anything ever in my life.

The grill looks great and works great. A couple of tricky reaches to attach the grill to the base when assembling. Other than that assembly wasn’t too bad.

Nice grill, well made, fairly easy to assemble using only a Phillips screwdriver or power screwdriver. Three burners put out plenty of heat. Product description indicates two "porcelain coated" cast iron grates. These grates are not porcelain coated. If you do not use cooking spray on the grates, a steak will stick to them and tear the meat. My grill came to me damaged, but I ordered a replacement that was perfect. Only took a few days longer to start cooking!

I received this grill for Christmas from my Mother. When I opened it, the firebox was SEVERELY damaged. it was bent and paint was chipped in multiple locations. The design of the packaging allowing all the inside components to move and damage the box. The day after Christmas, I reached out to the Permasteel customer service team and they said they would only replace it if I paid them $50. That is crazy! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! They offer me "touch up paint" for free, but how does that fix the bends that cause the side shelf to not stay up correctly? I am very disappointed in this company and really wish I bought ANY other brand.
