it works with some effort/tact, but as other reviews stated, it is a very (too) fine type of mesh that the water doesnt pass through easily, the bag design probably works better, but this paddle designed one really is more like an ore than pool skimmer. i am keeping mine and will make it work for the price point though.

The mesh on this is so fine that it can barely move through the water. If you aren't picking it up at a snail's pace then all the debris falls off the side. I've owned several skimmers and this is by far the worst one I've ever seen.

This has been a great skimmer, and I've been able to collect a lot with it, but since it isn't a universal size, I had to rig it with a bolt and wingnut to fit the pole I already had.

The plastic ring bends easy and collapses when scrapping on walls and floors.
