This induction cooktop is the way I cook every day. QUICK heat up and fast temperature control with far less energy consumption than a regular stove element. 1800W gives plenty of power and heat for all my cooking. LED controls give me selection of heat, timed cooking, auto-off timer - all with touch controls. The surface is very easy to keep shiny clean. Overheat protection although mine has never gotten too hot - just the pot and food get the heat. 9 power levels from 200W to 1800W assures I can find just the right temperature for simmering or boiling. I can select a temperature of 180F to 520F so sauces stay hot but do not burn.Compatible Magnetic Cookware- The induction stove requires induction compatible magnetic cookware like cast iron, iron, steel, and enameled iron cookware. If the cookware you place on the cooktop does not have enough iron content, the cooker will not operate and gives you notice that you need to change pots.Slim design is perfect for dorm or small apartment, but we have found that it is so convenient to use that we use it instead of the stove element every day. Induction cooking is our favorite way to cook and has been for 15 years, so we love it and highly recommend this cooker.UPDATE: The unit I got died after just one use - comes on for about 2 seconds and cuts off for about 3 minutes then comes on for about 2 seconds again and repeats this over and over - won't even boil water. Has a electrical smell that tells me something has burned out in this unit. I retract my recommendation - this unit has defects.2nd UPDATE: Customer service sent me another unit and it works properly, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ACEFOX for customer service. HOWEVER, I did some testing and found that this unit does not pull 1800WATTS at full power as the label says ... using a "KILAWATT" gauge, I got a reading of 1001WATTS which explains why this unit is slower to heat up whatever is place on it than older induction cooktops I have used. Results show that it takes about 40 seconds more time to boil a cup of water than another cooktop (also rated at 1800WATTS) that was puling 1409WATTS at full power. (NOTE - none of the cooktops I have ever tested actually pulled the full 1800WATTS that they were labeled) There is nothing wrong with using a 1000WATT induction cooktop, it just takes a little longer to heat up food. This is a fantastic 1000WATT induction cooktop that I highly recommend. My thanks to ACEFOX for fast replacement of the first defective unit!

This looks nice and is of a good size. The heating element is not small but not overly large. It will clean up nicely.I had though products of this kind were not hot to the touch after use but instructions says not to touch as it will be hot. I feel this is my misunderstanding of products of this kin rather than reflecting on the product.

So I'm an induction newbie but I wanted to get two individual burners to set on the top of my gas stove and use in place of the gas burners. This was the first one of the two I got. I've really put it through its paces and the only time I've been disappointed with it was when I tried to use a pan that was too large for it to brown something...the edges didn't brown. What's impressed me the most is how well it works at every temperature. I cook a hot breakfast for my family every morning because my teens are athletes and my husband works in a very physical job so they need something real to eat. I usually put the oatmeal on here at a very low temp and just give it a quick stir once in awhile and it never burns and cooked that way it comes out really creamy, everyone likes it better than before. On the other end, we have spaghetti every Thursday and this thing boils water really fast at the highest setting! I do use it to cook eggs and that works great so long as I don't use my really big skillet.A lot of people I know haven't heard of induction burners and one of the most common questions I get is whether the burners get hot. My answer is...sort of. Imagine setting a pot of boiling water directly on your counter and then leaving it there and then picking it up again a few minutes later. The counter would be pretty warm in that spot, right? So the induction burner doesn't actually heat up but the pot set on top is warm and some residual warmth will be left behind. Even with pasta or soup, it's never been hot enough to burn me. I did invest in a little rubbery cover meant for induction burners and I highly recommend you get one too. Otherwise the pot can slide around on the glass top, the glass top can get scratched, etc. But also, it keeps everything nice and cool so since I added that, the temperature of the burner has been a complete non-issue. Also, since it doesn't get hot, spills don't get cooked on. My husband was making hot chocolate the other day and forgot about it and the milk boiled over. The instant I turned off the burner, the milk went down. So that was neat. And then it was just hot milk on everything, nothing cooked on, so it was a breeze to clean off.Do note that the heating element is only 8" across, which is standard for single burners, but it means you shouldn't use a pot or pan more than 9" across. All in all I really love this burner and I'm trying to convince my mom to let me buy her another of this same one to try in place of her gas burners.
