There are really not a lot of options out there for dimmable CFL bulbs. I really wanted these to put into my dining room chandelier that I had just installed. However, I did not look at the specs enough before I purchased them - while them dimmed great, they were too large for my more shallow chandelier globes. So, I had 6 bulbs that I had no use for.However, we also just installed a foyer chandelier 15 feet in the air. I had not originally planned to put dimmers on that light, but, with these bulbs in hand, I did just that.So I have 4 of these bulbs in a Sea Gull Sfera 4 light chandelier. The globes on this are like tinted a bit, to look like off-white candles, and are tall. So these bulbs fit well in them, and can't be seen unless you are at the top of the stairs looking down at it. Looks great! And because they are CFLs, they should last a long time, as replacing them without a really tall ladder would be a pain...These bulbs are bright! We have them at about half intensity, and they provide plenty of light. The light looks warm, too, but it's hard to tell since I have colored sconces to give me the effect I desire.The bulbs dim in increments with the Lutron MACL-153M-WH Maestro 150-Watt Multi-Location CFL/LED Digital Dimmer I have installed (two, one at top and bottom of the stairs).Some people mentioned a hum, but I have not noticed anything. That could be because the lights are 15 feet in the air...but I don't think so.I certainly recommend this for folks who want dimmable lights and energy savings. Just be sure you get a light fixture and dimmer switches that can handle CFLs.

Purchased one 6-pack of these bulbs, no DOAs. All were installed in the same room, on the same dimmer circuit (an old dimmer designed for incandescents, not a new "CF-compatible" dimmer.) Note that they are longer than standard incandescents and may not fit in some fixtures.Light is very good for a CF. Not as nice as incandescents, but probably the nicest CF I've used. They turn on and off very quickly, no long warmup or slow fade. No noticeable flicker or buzz at full brightness, but annoying flicker and slight hum if dimmed below about 75%. So they're only dimmable to a point.About a year in, within a couple weeks of each other, 2 of the 6 burned out. This short life span negates the supposed cost savings of CFs, and also the supposed environmental benefit since the resulting trash is much more toxic. The only real benefit remaining is that they don't generate much heat, which is great during the summer.

First, bulb is huge, like the first CFLs. Doesn't dim any better than most general purpose CFL's: buzzes at low setting, flickers off and on at highest on my 3 level touch dimmer. It does have sturdy packaging though, if that's a plus for you. Gave it one star because it claims to be dimmable but it works fine for non-dimming applications.

Over the past 5 years, I've purchased just about every dimmable cfl that I've been able to get my hands on, and these bulbs are, without a doubt, the best I've seen so far, and at a reasonable price.When looking for a good dimmable cfl, i have found it difficult to hit all the criteria:a) dims to about 30%b) doesn't hum too bad when dimmedc) instant ond) good color temperatureThis one does all of them. If it has one weakness, it would be the humming, but they are certainly no worse than any of the dozens of dimmable cfl bulbs I've tried over the years. In addition, these are buch brighter than most of the others I've found, while only being marginally bigger.One reviewer marked the bulb down for being too tall... Of course it's going to be taller than an incandescent bulb; CFLs and LEDs will always have space issues when compared to a bulb using a thread sized filament. At any rate, I haven't found these to be any appreciable amount taller than any other 75 equivalent cfl.

This bulb works exactly as advertised, instant on, and very dimmable. I'm using it on an Insteon system and it works very well, going down to quite dim - not quite as far down as an incandescent will go, but a lot better then other dimmable CFL's I've tried.I'm not sure what people are talking about as far as size, it's about the same size as other medium sized CFL's I've used. When it's dimmed it does flicker very slightly and produces a slight hum, so I wouldn't use it where you'll be sitting directly under it in a quiet area. We have it in hanging lamps in a room where we sit about 5' away and it's inaudible and my wife doesn't notice the flicker even when I point it out.I wish they made them in 100w equivalents, I'd use them for a lot more applications.
