Ultraviolet Flame Detector designed for use with Siemens burner controls for the supervision of oil and gas flames and for ignition spark proving. To guarantee burner-free operation these detectors monitor the intensity of the burner flame UV radiation during each half cycle, providing a signal current to the control system. Featuring a die-cast aluminium housing with a 1in. mounting coupling and a connection facility for cooling air. The detector housing has a bayonet fitting which allows for it to be secured directly to the 1in. mounting coupling or to the glass holder.
With this type of flame supervision, the UV radiation emitted by gas or oil flames is used to generate the flame signal. The radiation detector ignites when illuminated with radiation in the 190-270 nm range, triggering a current in the flame detector circuit. The UV cell does not respond to glowing firebricks in the combustion chamber and daylight or light from boiler room illumination.
