My Garmin 265W GPS now works when not plugged in! :-) It was pretty easy to install. The hardest part was getting the old battery out of the Garmin as the double sided tape was very strong. This battery does not come with a little piece of double sided tape required to keep the battery from moving around once installed. It was not a big deal for me, as this was the first time I had to change the battery, there was plenty of "stickiness" left on the original piece of tape, I just peeled it off the old battery & put it on the new battery before putting the new battery into the GPS. Other than that it was very easy to change the battery. There are several videos on YouTube that can walk you through the whole procedure.

While it was not a "walk in the park" to install, if one is careful it works. With my 265W it required detaching the electronics from the case to reach the battery plug. And getting the old battery to detach from the case required careful but forceful prying. That is what actually took the most time. Very small star (tork?) screws on case. But all this was worth it and the battery is working great. Thank you.

The most difficult part of the whole process was getting the 265W to open up cleanly after removing the two screws. :) Everything else was pretty straight-forward. Look up the YouTube videos for some tips on how to open the case and swap the batteries. I would give this five stars if the package included a piece of double-stick tape to hold the battery in place inside of the GPS. No worries, though, as I was able to heat the original one a bit with a hair dryer and peel the tape off of it and re-apply it to this battery.The whole process took me about 15 minutes and everything works perfectly now.

It was a real pain to get the unit apart to try the new battery. We finally got the new battery in, and it seemed that all was fine, but then suddenly the whole thing quit working. We tried everything we could think of to fix it, but nothing worked. The unit, which worked fine before but had a short battery life, was a goner. I had to buy a new one. I wouldn't recommend this replacement unless you just really need a longer battery life.

I was about to replace my Garmin GPS as the battery was failing and I could not use it without it being plugged into my car. I did not think that the unit could be opened and the battery replaced, until I saw a Youtube video. The battery that I bought from Upstart Battery was reasonably priced and was shipped quickly. I am very pleased having installed the new battery without any problems and can now use my GPS as a portable guide.I would recommend to anyone who has a GPS that has a problem with battery life to look at Upstart Battery to get a replacement battery at a very reasonable price.

This battery fit exactly as the OEM. Installation was very easy and the battery life is great. I would suggest to anybody to replace their GPS battery themselves and save a lot of money and have a GPS with a decent operating time on the battery mode. One does not need a battery installation kit if you have a jeweler screwdriver set, you need this to remove the two case securing screws that hide under the GPS sticker/label.
