The lamp can be mounted vertically or horizontally. If the lamp installed vertically, the incoming water should come from the bottom of the housing moving up.
For the first time installation of the UV lamp, it is recommended that quartz sleeve is installed in the horizontal position for better sealing purposes.

Not sure how long these last or are supposed to last; the original lasted about 1yr. These directly replaced the geek model of t stage filter I bought here in Amazon in 2019. No issues, plug and go. Kinda pricey, in my opinion, but comparable to others, will see about longevity
