We have gone through 3 of these machines bought pre-covid because the UV bulbs kept burning out. We managed to get some replacement UV bulbs for a short time, but those did not last either. It was impossible to order these from the RS website. Calling them direct was completely useless as they did not take orders over the phone. They recommended buying the UV bulbs from online 3rd party vendors, all of which did NOT have them in stock. Again, RS customer service is completely useless. SO, we run a very quick paced, high volume cocktail bar. We essentially use the magnetic ink detector exclusively now by necessity. We take the bills and do a quick series of face-down swipes on the magnetic ink seals to hear the beeping and see the red light pulsate to indicate that the bills are good. Very good for fast paced establishments. That is how we still manage to use these machines while not being able to get the bulbs anymore. Good machines, terrible customer service and replacement bulb availability

There is NO WAY that I can get burned by another fake ever again. I showed my young staff how to use it in about 2 minutes and they love it!

I really like this item, it is very easy to use. I especially like how it beeps when you rub the face of a bill over the magnetic sensor. A beep means the ink has iron in it and is therefore not counterfeit. Just practice a few times and it becomes easy. The UV light is a good feature too, the security band in the money will glow, it helps to use it in a darker room for that purpose. Overall for the price, if it catches a single fake $50 bill, it will have paid for its self already, you can't beat that.

I work at a credit union and we needed a better way to detect fraudulent bills (the area of the branch is notorious for fraudulent bills). My first thought was to check out Amazon and that's when I came across this detector with multiple methods of weeding out fake bills. Upon first unpacking it, I was a little surprised at how "cheap" it felt. Then we started using it and my tellers were thrilled. We have been able to avert so many fraudulent bills and from various years of issuance. Given the price point, I was not expecting such a great device. The 4 stars are for the build quality ... otherwise, it would've gotten 5.

This item is able to multiple parameters when it comes to detecting counterfeit currency. It has a normal light which you can use check the watermark and strip, then a fluorescent blue light to check for the polymer strip inside the currency. Also, the magnifying glass makes it easy to locate what you're looking for--even if you wear bifocals. Lastly it has a magnetic ink detector which not only whistles when you run the currency against it, but lights up as well. It's awesome.

I just got my product and I bought this one because it had the best review so far, so I was excited I got it.... I opened the package and when I connect it to the electricity, It didn't worked... I tried different plugs, and nothing happened. I moved the device and sounds like something is not in place inside it, something's loose.... So yeah, it doesn't work... I hope the seller see this review and do something about it... meanwhile, Im disappoint and lost my money....
