I'm tall and kept banging my head on the tailgate of my 04 Pilot because it wouldn't go all the way up anymore. Looks just like the OEM lifts but perform much better. Replace one at a time, and prop up the tailgate with a piece of 2x4 or it'll likely fall on you one you remove the first one. These things will outlast the rest of the car.

I did not know which lift support (left or right) was failing on my 2005 Honda Pilot, so just ended up replacing both with these Sachs supports. Got them in March and they work great!

Watched replacement instructions on you-tube. A friend held the tailgate open while I installed these and I was amazed how easy the job was. My dealer wanted $300 for this simple job!

Put these on a 2006 Honda Pilot. Awesome. Easy to in tall & very rewarding not to hold up the lift gate with a stick anymore. The lift door is pretty heavy so it helps to have an extra person to hold the door up while you change them out. Lift gate Flys up now

We picked up our 2007 Honda Pilot from long term storage and found 2 failed rear lifts. Researching the issue showed that it does happen, though fortunately not all that often. Most folks that had done this also found that by going with a cheaper model, they were disappointed and the new lifts did not last or tried to overextend that rear door constantly. The Sachs lift are the same ones that Honda uses as original equipment on the Pilot and they will sell you for 2.5 times the price.The install was easy. My wife and I did it in less than 10 minutes with one screwdriver. I highly recommend these if your supports have gone out.

These are direct fit for a 2007 Honda Pilot (both sides).I was packing for a long weekend vacation when my factory shocks failed at 7yrs / 150k miles, so I had to pick something up quick. The local auto parts store shocks were about 20% more expensive than these, but available "right now".Swapping is easy, just use needle-nose pliers to pull back the ring clip and they pop right off. 5 minutes to swap both. However the parts store (Strong-Arm) brand had no internal damping, and would shoot the lift-gate up against its stops and make it bounce on the hinges. A few years of this would certainly make the hinges wear out.So I immediately hopped on amazon and ordered these OEM replacements. Cheaper, at my door when I got back from vacation, and they work like new. The gate moves quickly up near the top then for the last few degrees of motion it slows down and rests at the top. Perfect.Buy these OEM, not the aftermarket garbage.
