Fits just like OEM on a 2002 Mercedes SLK 230. The trunks on these cars are surprisingly heavy, but I ordered 2 of these to replace the 2 failed ones I was dealing with, and it worked like a charm. Easy 5 minute fix.

While this product does what it is supposed to, as would be expected from the brand name, I've found that there are a lot of look-alikes that may not be as good, or even harmful to use. I received one that was questionable and had a defect and getting it replaced was not as simple as it should have been. After that experience I found that the little helper that's supposed to tell us if it works with my vehicle (or not) was wrong. I ended up getting it from the dealer, at a substantially higher price, but at least I know it's an exact fit.

This product while I was able to install it and it does provide a sufficient amount of hold for the trunk does not fit the 2006 SLK 55 AMG as indicated by Amazon because it's too large to close the trunk the complete compressed size keeps the trunk open.
