i have put new seals in before but never got it to stop leaking completely stop leaking. this kit did the trick

According to sea star/baystar this is the correct replacement seal kit for baystar helm HH4016. I don’t know if I have an older HH4016 and baystar redesigned the helm. My HH4016 has a black rubber gasket under the plate. In the kit provided, you are given a large O ring and a flat plastic disc with a rubber gasket inside. Instructions say install plastic disc with gasket. You then aren’t able to fit the plate over the disc. I then removed the gasket out of the disc hoping it would be the correct sized gasket. This was not the case as the rubber gasket was undersized causing oil to leak everywhere

Does the job, stopping steering helm hydraulic fluid leaking. Easy to replace old parts if you pay attention to instructions.

Sealed the leak, hope it lasts. Seems to be a bit of play in the shaft. May need a new helm pump.
