A Shimano axle should fit in a Shimano hub, unfortunately, instead of regulating commerce, commerce regulates Congress; hence Shimano's free market enterprise has made bike parts user unfriendly, and now, incompatible. Lucky for me, I have no life; there is no need for me to get past go. Now, if a person had a life and needed to repair his bike to participate, and had to be subjected to this trickle down economic tyranny, and then their was something in the news about someone going postal, again, perhaps the cause would be that which is wrong with Congress.
