Main Features
DAS(Direct-attached storage) Mode
USB Connection: In USB connection mode, you can connect the SSM-F100 to your computer using the provided USB3.0 cable, essentially turning the drive into a Direct-Attached Storage(DAS) drive.
Noted:
1. While connected to a computer, the wireless function is turned off;
2. The default hard drive format is EXFAT, you can use it directly on Windows and Mac. You can format the drive to NTFS if you use it on Windows, please don't format to others.
NAS(Network attached storage) Mode
Connect the SSM-F100 to the power supply and lan cable to the router, the blue led indicator light up.Then you can access it on your smart phone and computer.
Note: In NAS mode, SSK drive can work without internet, but can not work independently, please attach it to a Router to have the network.
In order to obtain the IP address and work normally, please connect SSK drive to Router directly, please don't connect to others such as network hubs ect.
Multi-OS Compatible & Transfer Data Between Different OS Devices
Support for IOS, Android, Windows, Mac multiple operating systems, it solves the problem of fast data transmission between the different OS(operating systems) that may be in use.
The SSKCloud App is available on the "App Store" and "Google Play". (For IOS, Android phones, Tablet/ PC). For Windows and Mac OS computer, we have stored the file App in the hard drive, please find the folder name: "App", and then transfer the appropriate file to your computer and install accordingly.

Support DLNA protocol. I like this personal hard drive, the apps allows me to access my files from my phone and iPad as long as there is internet access. So far so good.

"The SSK 4TB Personal Cloud Network Attached Storage has some great features, like wireless remote access and ample storage capacity. However, I found the interface to be very limited and not user-friendly. It lacks customization options and advanced features that I expected at this price point. While it performs the basic functions, the clunky interface makes it less enjoyable to use. It's a decent product, but the user experience could definitely be improved."

This product is a perfect example of a Chinese device that never functions as advertised. As usual, the operation manual is confusing, out of date and poorly written. The setup instructions are misleading and don't seem to apply. Contacting technical support leads to more frustration when the email response never addresses the customer questions. There is too much of a language barrier for this cloud storage device to succeed in the USA.

No app in the app store as advertised, had to contact manf to let them know. App placed in app store over a week later but I cannot connect to product from phone/tablet. I also cannot connect to item on LAN even though it's wired to the LAN and so are my computers. Wireless transfer the only option from my desktop/laptop and it is SLOW. Multiple transfer failures and frequently unable to connect to the hard drive remotely through the app even when on the same network. It's a piece of junk and is being returned. I should have listened to recent reviews. My parents have an older model and have no issues with it. Online help/instructions not helpful at all. No instructions came in the box...

Nicely done. Nice little setup manual. "Preventive info": they sent troubleshooting info by email beforehand, so I feel good about it : they care. Can't say much else, haven't had time to set it up yet. One year warranty is good. 4T will be more than enough for me for a while.I found out the current prices for the hdd used in these systems, storage capacity is now very cheap. It's the hardware around the hdd that's expensive.

If you want to change anything such as changing the the admin password from the default (admin) or set static IP network settings, don't even think about buying this. At the default settings the drive appears to function correctly, but none of the apps or web-based management save any setting changes. My request for support resulted in a generic list of obvious troubleshooting steps, with the setting of the static IP issue addressed by setting an IP reservation on my router. Sorry, that's not how it's done on a router owned by a service provider. I would not touch this thing until they get their software functioning properly. I tried all the variations of their app, phone-based, Windows 11 32 and 64 bit, etc. with the same results. And you can forget about the manual, it's every bit as confusing as everything else.

I don't want to say anything bad about this iCloud device; however, I have purchased two of them, and with 40 years of using a Macintosh and thousands of hours of messing with the SSK Personal Cloud Network device, I have not been able to accomplish the goal of using it for anything other than an external 4TB hard drive. Just because the instructions were written for a Professional IT level person does not mean it is a defective product. However, I suggest finding someone, perhaps a BestBuy Geek, to get past the technical mumbo jumbo if you plan to use it like a local network iCloud sharing device.
