My 9-year-old dachshund is a chowhound and has always eaten fast. Since he was a puppy I have been using an aluminum muffin tin for his food dish in an effort to get him to eat more slowly, dividing his food into each of the 6 spaces. With this new dish, I put all of his food (1/4 cup) into the side with the grooves and it took him 53 seconds to eat it, compared to the 36 seconds it takes him to eat from the muffin tin. I don't give him wet food, so I didn't think I would use the "lick mat" side, but I think I will try putting some of the kibbles in that side to see if it slows him down even more. This pan is a nice heavy duty stainless steel. It has a real quality feel to it and looks like it will be easy to clean. I was hesitant about the rubber non-slip part attached to the bottom because it looks like it should be removeable to facilitate cleaning any germs that might get under it but I couldn't get it off. Hopefully that won't be a problem. The bottom is covered in small suction cups to keep the pan in one place on your floor if you choose to do that. Those suction cups work very well on the right surface. They don't stick to a textured surface. (I tested it in my kitchen sink which is a composite material that isn't completely smooth and the suction didn't hold.) I was concerned that the pan would get suctioned to the floor of my dog's crate where I feed him, or would get stuck to my countertop and then scatter kibble all over when I tried to pick it up. That hasn't been a problem so far- you don't HAVE to push the suction cups down and they don't seem to engage unless you do so.The pan is 9.25 inches in diameter and 3 cm tall. I measured the capacity with water. The groove side holds 1 cup and the lick mat side holds 1.5 cups.I think the grooves on the kibble side could be improved by having the metal ridges be a little taller. They seem too shallow to me, and if I were feeding a larger dog with a higher volume of food that covered up the ridges, then that would defeat the purpose until the food was almost gone.

PROS: 1. Seems to be super well made of quality stainless steel. 2. AMAZING Suction cups that stay put on even a textured floor -- in fact it was so stuck that it had me laughing. But be careful, it sticks to the counter too! :) 3. A Great way to add interest by separating moist food (or peanut butter etc) from kibbles for variety. My girl was really excited about trying something different! 4. Easily washable! 5. Comes with a designated spatula.Considerations: 1. Although she seemed super jazzed about the new bowl, this didn't appreciably slow down my girl, but if I'd put more of a paste on the textured side I'm sure it would have. I'm guessing that a dog with a flatter face (as shown in the images) would find the ridges to be more of a challenge.Still, this bowl is well made and has fabulous suction power, and it's so fun to have a separate place for moist dog food or peanut butter, just to provide some variety, which is after all the spice of life (to some degree even for a dog).Note that I only changed 1/4 of the food I offered so as not to cause gastrointestinal distress.

We have loved this slow feeder. Fits the perfect amount of food for our medium size doggo.Stainless steel is easier to clean and more hygienic as it is non-porous. We have a couple plastic slow feeders we are happy to say goodbye to and will be looking for more stainless steel options. We love that it is dishwasher safe. Freeze treats are great in this as well. The bowl has a good weight to it but is not heavy. It does not move on hard surfaces. The suction cups on the bottom ensure complete stability even with excited eaters. The function and design are definitely worth the price in my opinion. This seems like it will last. One thing to keep in mind, the bowl will suction to your counter as you are filling with food or treats. I lay out a little dish towel underneath to avoid having to un-suction it (so carefully) while full; likely to have a little spill that way. Easily preventable though and I would absolutely recommend to a friend.Hope this helps!

This feeder has a lot going for it—sturdy stainless steel, easy to clean, and the suction cups do a great job keeping it from sliding around. The size is generous, and the lick mat side is great for spreading soft treats to keep pets busy. That said, the maze side isn’t quite as challenging as I’d hoped. It slows my pet down a little, but not by much. Still, it’s well made and works nicely for variety in feeding. Just wish the slow-feed side had deeper or tighter patterns.

This is a well-made, sturdy stainless-steel plate. I tested both sides, wet and dry food. My pup loved it. Don't mind the spill, but it does give an indication of the shallowness of the plate. Both sides work well. I freeze yogurt or peanut butter with toppings, and it can serve as a lick mat. I tested out the slow feeder side twice. It slows my pup eating fast, but not as slow as other slow feeders out there. The second time, I got a sunshine plate, and it seemed to work well in terms of eating slow because of the surface area (as opposed to a deeper bowl). It's also on the larger end (e.g the size of a normal dinner plate), my only con about it. Overall, it's easy to clean and well made. It's a good investment for the price point.
