Slightly smaller than the #4, this plane is perfect for smoothing smaller areas, edges, and intricate joinery, offering excellent control and maneuverability. Whether refining detailed projects, working on smaller surfaces, or catering to users with smaller hands, the #3 delivers exceptional precision and ease of use.
Constructed from ductile cast iron, the body and frog provide maximum stability and durability, while the precision-lapped sole and sides ensure a perfectly flat, accurate surface. Measuring 9-1/4" long, 2-1/4" wide, and weighing 4 lbs, this plane offers an ideal balance of size and weight for fine finishing tasks. The cryogenically treated O1 steel iron, 0.120" thick and 2" wide, is hardened to 54-58 HRc, ensuring superior edge retention, easy sharpening, and the ability to take ultra-fine shavings for a polished, ready-to-finish surface.
Designed with a fully machined frog seating system based on the original Bedrock planes, this smoothing plane minimizes chatter and maximizes cutting stability. The innovative frog adjustment mechanism allows precise mouth opening adjustments without removing the iron, providing optimal performance on a variety of woods, from softwoods to dense, figured grain. The hand-rubbed Sapele wood knob and tote offer a comfortable grip and classic aesthetic.
Ideal for woodworkers seeking a smaller, highly maneuverable plane, the BR Series #3 Smoothing Plane is a must-have tool for fine finishing, detailed joinery, and precision craftsmanship.
