Having been through the complete Thomastik catalogue from wiech to stark (light to heavy) I would definitely select these as my favourite all round set. Especially for pizz playing. For arco work these strings do take a little getting used too. The mittel (medium) set are probably a better choice if you are dedicated to the bow but for occasional bow use these will work. Where they really come into their own is in pizz playing. Sustain is second to none and once you get used to the the weight of string sitting under your finger these strings will produce a strong full tone. Highly recommended.

I've tried a lot of strings, and these work the best for my bass so far. (Every bass is different so of course YMMV.)Pros:+Strong sub-bass response (you really FEEL, not just hear it)+Super long string life+Great projection+Signature Spirocore "wah" and "growl" pizz+Good balance across strings+Powerful, "forward," and lush across entire rangeCons:-A little tiresome on the left hand-The extra tension may choke / not be sustainable to keep on for some basses-Some complain that Spirocores (especially starks) are more difficult to bow nuanced material; I disagree but YMMV
