Product Description

HET DRAKE TANK W/E-MAX

From the Manufacturer

This E-Max Drake tank from Toto features a 1.28 Gallon flushing system. Unlike pressure assist toilets, which can be noisy and are made with more complicated moving parts, E-Max is a simple and quiet solution for effectively flushing 1.28 gallons. Utilizing the same proven engineering as the legendary 1.6 GPF G-Max flushing system, the 1.28 GPF E-Max reinforces TOTO's performance reputation while offering an additional water savings of 20%. E-Max features: Wide 3-Inch flush valve provides a quick, consistent and powerful flush. Large 2-1/8-Inch trapway is glazed to optimize waste passage. Pilot-operated fill valve ensures quiet operation and a clean shutoff at any water pressure. Extra-large siphon jet works in conjunction with the large glazed trapway; the siphon jet pulls away waste with incredible force. Includes toilet tank only, bowl sold separately.

Like other reviewers, I wanted the ST743#01 (Cotton White), settled for a ST743#11 (Colonial White), and received an ST746#11. This is a more water-efficient tank replacement (1.2+gal vs 1.6). The color difference is hardly noticeable (phew!). The ST746 mounted nicely and feels quite stable. We tightened the hold-down nuts carefully, alternating left and write for even pressure, until we got three contact points. One thing about a smaller tank to be aware of - sometimes painters will not paint well behind a toilet tank; replacing with a smaller tank can necessitate some painting touchups. Not in our case. Replacing your ST743 tank with this one, is considerably easier and cheaper than a complete toilet replacement, if you insist on Toto quality.

Ordered tank and lid, item was received with broken lid and now we have to pay to ship it back. Not acceptable!

As other reviewers have said, this is not Toto tank model ST743. It is ST 776 and it is not a replacement. I called Toto and they told me that ST743 is discontinued and there isn’t a replacement and the 776 model would not fit. Before I purchased this tank I emailed this seller and asked them to confirm the model number. I was trying to avoid having to return such a large and heavy package. They said it was the ST743. However it was not. I was not happy. Don’t buy this if you want the ST743 tank.

It says it replaces it, but it’s different. It comes with all of the parts and does in fact fit. I feel that it should say specifically that it’s not what you’re looking for but it will do the job. Works great. Had to use Amazon instead of a local store because no one has it and the manufacturer has stopped making it. Very good shipping and very happy with the replacement.

This is not a good substitute for the ST743 . The tank is too narrow. The water line fitting is too close to the bowl so you can't connect the water line. I ended up taking the tank off the bowl so I could connect the line. Fitting pushes against bowl so the tank is a little crooked. The bottom of the tank is curved differently so can't get it lined up to the bowl. You are supposed to have 3 points making contact to the bowl. I could only get 2 points to touch so tank rocks a little.

Seller needs to update listing! Our original TOTO ST743E color code #12 cracked so I ordered this to replace it. Apparently they discontinued that one. So the replacement is the one I received ST776EA#12. I wasn’t about to return it, we tried it on it fits though the tank is not as wide it looks and fits just fine. Had to modify some of the plastic t screws by breaking off the plastic wings because it would screw all the way due to the toilet bowl. If you’re just ordering the tank be aware it comes with spare parts for the whole toilet. We were confused. Easy to install otherwise. Perfect color match too. Bit noisier though.

I actually ordered this by mistake. I would have ordered the 1.6 model like the cracked tank it was replacing had I not gotten in such a hurry to order and didn't do the research until after I had ordered it. But, there it was and the toilet was broken so I went ahead and used it.As others have noted, it absolutely does replace the 1.6 perfectly. It could be considered a bolt on upgrade to a 1.6.....I guess.......The actual tank itself appears to be identical, with only the internal parts designed to not fill as high.It flushes just fine, as I pretty much knew it would because we rarely even bother giving ours the full 1.6 flush. One thing I don't really care for is the uniquely designed proprietary flush valve. It probably opens faster giving a stronger flush, which undoubtedly helps offset the lost .32 gallons per flush, BUT, it's very unlikely you will find a replacement at your local hardware or big box store. Maybe a well stocked plumbing supply store....Maybe....

I cracked my 5 year old old tank after tightening it when it started to leak. When I installed the new one, I found out that my old tank was mis-installed and that's what lead to BOTH the leak and the crack. The installer only used one washer and nut per bolt, not two. (One nut/washer set tightens down the rubber washer to the tank (for leaks) and the other attaches the tank to the base) They had left out what tightens the rubber down... so it leaked. And when I tightened the only nut there, it cracked the tank.I was glad to see that user error caused the crack because I like Toto products and now I still do.It installs easily. And counter to other reviewers, my lid fit perfectly with no wobble at all and I tightened the tank down until it touched the 3 points the instructions says it will. Others have said that their lid wobbles and the tank cracked when screwed tight enough to get it on the base.KEEP IN MIND : when you are tightening the tank down, in your head remember that you are basically screwing together two teacups. BE GENTLE. It's ceramic. And I don't know if it helped but I had my arm over the top of the tank, gently pushing the tank down. I also stopped any time I heard a scraping sound and reassessed. Ceramics have very small margins for error. Follow the instructions.
