This worked perfectly to correct a saddle fit issue on my high withered gelding. If you have a well fitted saddle, this is not the pad for you. It is meant for narrow/high withers that need a bit more padding.

Do not buy. Tore in less than 10 rides. The area on the front that holds the pad in just came unraveled like a cheap seat cover. Total waste of money.

This saddle pad looks really sharp and is very thick, which I love. It has a beautiful rustic look and compliments the saddle I just refurbished. I ordered it in the royal blue color which is closer to a deep sky blue. The thing that confuses me about this pad is that there is a hard and thick block of what must be padding up by the shoulder area. Maybe this was meant to disperse pressure but my saddle fits perfectly so that is not an issue. This will cause a change in saddle fit, though I'm not sure if it will be a problem or not yet. It feels like a thick block of cardboard. So in short, I love the look of the pad but I'm afriad that it'll be outweighed by the stiffness in the shoulder area and I won't be able to use it. I included a picture where I've pushed back the fabric and am holding onto the block of cardboard padding to show how large it is. Perhaps I can cut along the seam and pull them out then resew it.

I don't currently own a horse, but I do ride several different horses and needed a built-up pad to help my saddle fit better on my extra-narrow guy. This pad is perfect for correcting my slightly-too-wide saddle fit and providing my high-withered horse with some wither relief. As other reviews mentioned, the built-up section of this pad is very thick, and it will not be ideal if your saddle already fits your horse well. So make sure to buy the other version without the build-up in the front if you don't have a saddle fit issue (https://www.amazon.com/Tough-Tough-1-Sierra-Cutback-Saddle/dp/B002HNO2OS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1523555411&sr=8-4&keywords=tough+one+sierra+pad). We'll see how well the wear "leathers" hold up as they are just some type of canvas material, but otherwise the pad seems to be well-made. So far I think this is the perfect pad for the money and for my needs.

I'm less than thrilled. This pad has two pieces of thick foam (about 1" )in the front of the pad. These change saddle fit and make my saddle "tippy" unless the girth is very tight. However, I do like the pad and was very impressed with the sweat pattern on my horse, it makes my saddle fit better. See attached photo
